While it's not always the real world that writes the story, this is one of those times when it does. Sort of. This is a very, very short story about a familiar face from Corkus realizing that sometimes, even your food may try to kill you. Or at least give you bodily harm.

    -----------------------------------------------

Maxie had no idea what had happened. He was sitting in the recently renovated Five Gears restaurant following the mech cleanup (with help from the Hero of Wynn, who had shut down the factory a few months prior), eating his favorite dish with a side of fries, when he painfully winced as he bit into something hard and heard a sound only reminiscent of crunching... followed by great pain. Realizing that he might've chewed something that wasn't meant to be, he hastily finished the rest of his meal and departed, having paid the bill earlier, to the nearest dentist in Corkus City. He had just found out the hard way that teeth aren't meant to chew on tough objects like that - having just cracked his tooth on a rogue gear piece (or a very tough walnut shell) that somehow found its way into a pork wrap.

The pain wasn't unbearable, though - it had faded after a while and all he could feel was the absence of a good chunk of the tooth, which was certainly annoying - but not the end of the world. However, if left unchecked, it could give way to a whole plethora of problems, like being much more susceptible to halitosis, which would certainly plague him to no end, so the only option he had in the long term was to go to a dentist anyway. While the councilors had decent medical coverage, dental care was not covered, so he had to pay for it from his own pocket. Obviously a chip in his tooth wouldn't be the end of the world, but it still was quite significant enough to require immediate attention, occupying at least a few days to ensure his chipped tooth was properly worked on.

At least he didn't have any plans for later that week.

    -----------------------------------------------

Again, a short story, but as mentioned - one that is loosely based on a real life event.
