Changing Name And Previous Names?

What are they and how do they work? I keep seeing on people's name that they have previous names. How can I change my name? Can I get a new account and transfer all the progress from my current one to the new one and the new one will show my previous name like how I see all the time? Ty in advance!

 

Do you mean your forum name or your minecraft ign?
You can change your ign at the official minecraft page, but only every 30 days or so. Unfortunately you can’t transfer classes between accounts, but you can have both accounts open and trade between them if you need to transfer items. And if you mean hovering over people’s names and seeing past usernames, yes, it will show your past usernames.
