Game Mechanics Change Spell Selection Method

    Well, not completely. My suggestion is to, instead of directly selecting the spells through the "right-click left-click" method, make the set of clicks (when complete) send an obscure symbol through chat that actually signals the spell. This will let players make mods that allow them to press a single button to select a spell.

    I don't know about the PVP implications of this, but I know that the right-click left-click method is infuriating at times, often resulting in multiple spells being forced to cast or not being able to left-click attack because the game registered right-click too many times. Latency and NPC interactions both cause it to be more inconsistent than it should be. As a mod-maker, I would love the ability to circumvent this system.

    Wynntils has this already, go to settings -> options-> controls and scroll down to "cast 1st spell" etc and then bind a key

    If this is a replacement for a specific packet, then a command would be easier and not cause confusion if someone sends this character in chat. This could be interesting, but I think the current system is perfectly fine.

    Except no one uses it. It's insanely slow that you are better of clicking manually

    That’s not true, I use this a lot
    It’s very helpful when my fingers get tired from spam clicking for 5+ minutes straight

    That's a much better solution, true. I was thinking characters because I had just watched the Tom Scott video on ⍼ lol.

    Yeah, that's the main issue. Combine that with the lag on spell submission, being forced to finish casting the wrong spell if you misclick in battle, and the fact that I frequently have to finish casting Vanish to get on my horse, and I'd much prefer to have the ability to send commands to cast spells and disable the rclick method even if it means I have to write my own mod to do it.

    I think they don't want people that use a mod to have an advantage over people that play vanilla, so that's why the Wynntils feature is a bit slow and why this probably won't be added

    Honestly I feel like most developers wouldn't mind making a Wynncraft mod officially sanctioned as a companion mod. I might take a stab at rewriting/porting Wynntils to Fabric 1.18 with direct oversight from the staff. That's kind of been my role in the mod dev community so far anyway: making companion mods for modpacks and the like.

    So like, if one of the movers and shakers at Wynncraft are reading this, hit me up. I've got some good modding experience under my belt and a love of making helpful stuff with limitations for balance.

    I think the rl system is nice because it encourages more technique than spamming a button, because now you spam 2 buttons in certain orders!
