Simply retexture and rename the potion of drunkness in all cities that carry this potion to Nemract Whiskey. The game itself calls it Nemract Whiskey and I think the name should be consistent.

pls this has been bothering me for 3 years

The post above is what I was originally suggesting in all of it's simplicity. However...

Thanks to the feedback from @PikaLegend, here is an updated and more detailed solution provided that:
    1. There shouldn't be the same type of alcohol in different locations and provinces.
    2. Re-texturing a potion is impossible or too tedious for the CT.

That being said, here is my suggestion. I hope it's simple enough that it wouldn't be too large of a project to create and enjoyable enough for the CT to take the time to make.

Change the Names and Color of the Potion of Drunkness
The reason for this suggestion stems from a pet peeve that really juices my goose. The game always (as far as I know) refers to the potion of drunkness as Nemract Whiskey. Furthermore, the "potion" comes disappointingly in the color of a normal bottle of water. As far as continuity and realism goes, this makes no apparent sense. I am suggesting:
    • a simple change of color from blue to a rich, gold "beer" color and...
    • different types of alcoholic drinks for each city (it wouldn't make much sense for each city that carries the potion of drunkness to be called Nemract Whiskey).
This would add a higher sense of realism (particularly in quests Grave Digger and The Angry Village), be more enjoyable for role-playing and is just a small and fun detail that would surprise players.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm aware that from a technical standpoint, re-texturing the potion of drunkness completely is a hassle. So I would suggest a simple re-coloring of the potion to a beer-looking color which would be the base of all the different types of drunkness potions in different locations (basically, all alcohols look teh same).

    Types of Alcohol

Each location which, according to the wiki, the drunkness potions are currently sold will have a drunkness potion with different names, prices duration and effects. Here are a few examples on what they could be:

    Nemract Whiskey
    Location: Nemract
    Cost: 2 emeralds
    Lvl min: 21
    Effects:
    +Nausea
    Duration: 2 minutes

    Redbeard's Rum
    Location: Pirate's Cove
    Cost: 5 emeralds
    Lvl min: 21
    Effects:
    +Nausea
    +2 Strength
    +Blindness
    Duration: 1 minute

    Cinfras Ale
    Location: Cinfras
    Cost: 7 emeralds
    Lvl min: 21
    Effects:
    +Nausea
    +3%Walk Speed
    Duration: 1.5 minutes

    Old Cork
    Location: Corkus
    Cost: 10 emeralds
    Lvl min: 21
    Effects
    +Nausea
    +Night Vision
    +Slowness
    +Jump Height
    Duration: 2 minutes

Or ya know, it can just be Nemract's Whiskey.

I swear it didn’t earlier... whateve, the one person should probably explain their reason for saying no. Personally think it would make more sense lore wise, though it would feel a bit empty if it was the only potion item of “drink or brew” type.

I personally prefer the name as it is right now as Nemract is not the only city that produces Potion of Drunkness. (Pirate Cove, Cinfras and Javen's Bar in Corkus also sell Potion of Drunkness - They all could potentially be locally brewed, claiming every Potion of Drunkness to be "Nemract Whiskey" seems a bit extreme). I just prefer the style on how potion names are given - Potion of Healing, Potion of Mana, Potion of Strength, Potion of Wisdom... It would be odd how the potion seller would suddenly pop up with a new name in the shop.

Yes, this could be done for Nemract only (in fact it is exactly what was suggested), but, changing the textures for individual potion IDs could be on the impossible side - How it works is that changing the potion texture will affect all potions. The only way to individualize potions is through color. Besides, mana potions and normal water bottle seems to be the same with Potion of Drunkness, maybe a color change could be fun to see!

Arguing against myself here, I do think the idea could help out with the Lvl 20 quest, Grave Digger. Nemract Whiskey does give a feeling of "special" to the item, giving a further hint to the player that they do have a bigger purpose than just being there to players. The name change would also let players roleplay a bit more effectively, which could be fun without having to bother with the technical term of "Potion of Drunkness" - you don't call ice cream "Extreme cause for a sugary disease", that is not how you market stuff!

Well, I am just biased on how it is displayed right now. I am on the minority with this one.:grimacing::grimacing:

It could be, but remember that the colour of all the potions would be a gold-ish colour, so wine would just be strange. Besides, it's not something you would see in an rpg of this style, especially over ale, rum, etc.

Just, imo, the difference between people saying "its nemract whiskey" and you seeing it as a "potion of drunkness" is quite good

People referring to it as Nemract Whiskey think its good and all, but you, you just don't care and see it as something that gets you drunk

However, the color of the bottle may be changed for good, and my point of view may be wrong ;)

So i'm not going to vote because i'm going either side, but if someone can prove that no, the player doesn't see it as a potion of drunkness but as real whiskey or smthing like that, then i'll put yes ;)

I'm not really sure what you mean... I mean the potion of Drunkness already has the nausea effect, so no changing anything there. The whole point of the thread was to add a sense of continuity; The sea sail merchant always refers to it as Nemract whiskey, so do the majority of the quests it's mentioned in, and the game itself. The main reason for this change would be to change the name of the potion of drunkness to what it is already called. So no, I don't think that it's just a means to get "drunk"(although players already do that for giggles and shits), but something that makes sense for the game to have.
Anyways, it's not that big of a deal, it's just been bothering me for 3 years and I decided to make a thread about it

lol, i'm not too sure myself about what you mean, but i'm going to explain my point again

Everyone in the quest that refers to it as "Nemract Whiskey" drinks it, and likes it

The character we are playing, doesn't like it obviously because the only thing he gets after drinking it is nausea, while the villagers really appreciate it, so while some like the Nemract Whiskey and call it like so, our player names the items to what he thinks they are, the bottle of Nemract Whiskey being a "potion of drunkness"

That's an interesting interpretation. However many players like to use it for role playing, and its generally consumed for fun. Btw nausea is a side of alcohol in real life anyways. :p

There's perks I added for some other potions like speed (bc alcohol increases heart rate) and strength. I don't want to up the perks too too much because they could be used as a cheap alternative to stat potions
Anyways just vote yes no or maybe if you think it's generally a good idea or not
