Cancer: Should We Change Its Name?

Well, to be more accurate, I've never seen anyone get censored over using a name cancer like in this context. I think I know what you're talking about though.

 

Just because there are worse ways of humiliation, it doesn't make it right. And no, I never put these different ways equal because first off all, it doesn't matter and second, because everyone experiences it different. That you can't imagine that someone is hurt by it doesn't mean that no one actually is. And fact is, there were tons of complains.
To the rest I won't argue anymore, its basically the same as in the previous postings.

And one last thing: If you really want freedom of speech, you should stop to shut down any argument that takes other peoples feelings into account by calling it "political correctness = censorship". Thats the same way of arguing as what these Brown students did.

That's what I'm saying; it's not humiliation to begin with at all. No one should let words that aren't even directed at them have this much power over there well being. Period. You keep ignoring ShadowMage's toxic behavior that proves my point; people will just use political correctness to intimidate others that don't agree with them. You were wrong that some terms you thought were universally offensive, yet you keep ignoring it.

I am not arguing in anyway that the Brown students did. I never demanded that you rescind your comments or that by simply arguing with me you're "disrespecting" or "offending" me. It is people who claim to be offended that are demanding that the name be changed for the same reasons that the Brown students are. Political correctness is censorship. You are not allowed to say anything that might be offensive to anyone, regardless of the context or intent. The intent of political correctness is not to "disrespect" anyone, but in the process it creates even more intolerance and more disrespect to those that disagree with political correctness.

 

If political correctness is not censorship, then can I call out muslim rape gangs and not be called a racist thus getting shunned by everyone I know and random people on the street?

To everyone involved in this political correctness discussion, I think you're taking it a bit too far and getting a touch too hostile with it, as well. That's the primary reason I'm locking this until we get results back.
