If you are smart enough you can reach level 98 without grinding once, as a mage you can even make it to 99.
Grinding those remaining 1-2 levels will take 3 days at most.
So I dont get why people see the need to afk farm honestly.

 

What is considered "grinding?" Usually it refers to engaging in a repetitive task (which this obviously is,) so is it still considered grinding to take the time to automate it? What's the difference between getting a cactus build and AFK grinding and automating a mob farm in vanilla? Or getting a bunch of machines in a modpack to do mine for you while you go AFK?

Do you mean by using TXP or DXP every time you turn in a quest? Because it is not possible without.

I said that I would not get involved in this thread again, but this is just false. @Broettinger has grinded multiple level 100s, @motoki1 grinded 100% of the way to level 101 from level 100 (and to my knowledge grinded there as well.) @ClumsyRecon grinded from low 90s to level 100, as well as other people that I cannot think of at the moment.

Key word there is -engaging-. Sitting away and doing something else while mobs kill themselves on you isn't -engaging- in anything.

Yes, a bug. Why the quotes? It is an unintentional effect that made it far too powerful. There's no quotes about it; that's what it is.

Alright, fair enough. I thought I might have misunderstood that. My apologies @CleanDoge but regardless of that, both Clumsy and Broe(?) have grinded from low 90s to 100. It is not impossible.

 

An unintentional effect that makes something far to powerful isnt a bug, it is just something the content team didnt think about when making the IDs and things.

Somehow the fact that lifesteal activating every time thorns does being a bug keeps getting lost.

 

still doesnt make up for the fact that they are moving so fast so when they are being hit is very rare
and even if they get hit a full agility build has 80% chance to not take damage so its really damn hard to damage them and their health is not low enough to die when you finally do hit em

 

At the same time though, they can't do enough damage to you to stick. Them being so effective at dodging covers for their weaknesses if you play them well, but if not, then you're screwed.

 

Does this mean it's ok to have Thorns + Regen builds?
It's not using the thorns triggering lifesteal bug so...

 

To be fair, once you finish all the quests you are left in an area where you have nothing to do but grind. This leaves players with the choices of:
A. Mindlessly spam spells at a group of mobs for hours on end until they level up.
B. Get gear that will allow them to AFK "grind" monsters until they level up. It will still take hours (it might even be slower. I'm not sure because I haven't tried it out), but you get to spare your fingers, and you can do something that is actually interesting.
C. Quit the game until an update.

I would say that none of these are truly playing. True, option A does require you to actually be at the keyboard, but I would say that that is more of "playing" than playing due to the player doing the same actions over and over again mindlessly with no variation. It's not really engaging, it can start to hurt your hands and you are stuck doing it if you want to make any progress.
Option B is definitely "playing". You're not even at the keyboard, and you're getting the same result as option A except you are free to spend your time doing whatever you wish, and you can give your fingers a break.
Once again, I haven't tried an afk grinding build, but it seems like there are no real downsides to it, and, considering that neither option allows you to escape grinding, why wouldn't you save yourself some time (and pain) by AFK grinding.

Except that Option A is still playing the game as the way it's intended, you were always meant to grind on mobs using your fingers to use spells when quests weren't available, the content team didn't have enough time to make level 90+ quests, but, they are making more great quests in the GM server as we speak.
Option B is an exploit that was never intended to work, it slipped through the cracks of testing, and now, people see it as a gateway to an easy level 100/101, which was never ever intended, and even though it's not intended and should be removed as soon as possible, people don't want it to go away just because of the advantage it gives them. "It's my way or the highway", as some have said, it's what we've been having to do to get rid of these builds with.
And Option C is based on the aforementioned "my way or the highway", it's whether you want to keep grinding or wait for an update.
Honestly, I'm about ready to fucking rant on how stupidly salty people get when they wasted money for these exploitable builds that eventually get nerfed.

This is not vanilla Minecraft, this is an MMORPG built on the engine of Minecraft, you cannot compare a sandbox game with an MMORPG.
