Website & Forums Better Item Guide

Gavel has come out for a few weeks, and with it comes a badass new website. It's a great inprovement over the last one ( at least the class illustrations look cooler IMO), but there's a glaring blemish:

The item guide sucks.

Firstly, it doesn't work 99% of the time, I click on it, select a category, then go off to help an old geezer retrieve his soul. When I'm done, the system is still stuck in the searching process.

Other than that, the filtering is vague. Most of us are picky people that know what stats we want on our gear, and the current filter simply doesn't cut it. No one likes scrolling through 300+ entries looking for a suitable item, then realizing they just scrilled past it.

This issue has been picked out by many like-minded adventurers, but I'd still like to give my own take on the problem:

1. Make the system work. I'm not a system admin; I don't know what voodoo goes into that...thing, but I hope that it gets fixed.

2. Introduce a more advanced filter. Instead of vaguely grouping items into categories, options for level range and identifications should be added.

This is my take on a well-known problem, and I hope that the staff will get to it soon. Because it would make creating our dream setup so much easier.

I think the item guide needs more detail, too. It doesn't distinguish between raw and percentage values of spell damage, damage bonus, and health regen, plus some ID's are completely missing, and I don't believe raw elemental defenses are listed either. So, those need to be added.

As for the search features, I think having multiple parameters would be good. Choose between type of equipment, tier, and level range, and boom. Perfect search.

As for it just plain not working right now, it's just bugged. Not sure if he's the reason, but I #BlameJumla.

 

The issue will be hard to fix, since the source script of the main page is 39 million lines long, and half the lines are nearly 2k characters long. I know, debugging hell, I'm surprised it once worked.
Either way, I'm working on another item guide with, hopefully, more flexibility with searches, which I once did before the update.
