Pure requires pretty high cps to fully take advantage of entropy. Depending on your cps, another weapon may be much more effective for you.

 

What sort of CPS do you need to be effective with pure?

I can definitely cast meteors faster than they fall currently, which is why I was thinking it could improve my damage output.

 

I’m not a pure expert by any means, but here’s my pure rant. If someone smarter than I wants to correct me, by all means go right ahead ;)

Pure generally gets 9-12k meteors, varying by build. IMO it’d be hard-pressed to compete with other mythics like singu, which can do double pure’s meteor damage, especially since they can utilize curse/courage, while being tankier and being much less mana-hungry.

Entropy is a very cool major ID, I’ll give it that. To utilize it effectively, however, you’d in theory need around 9cps, to do either M-M-S every second or alternate M-S-M , S-M-S (M = meteor, S = snake). The first method could achieve well over 20k dps while requiring 15/5 mr with 1/1 spellcosts, while the second would require only 10/5 mr with 1/1 spellcosts but netting significantly less dps.

The problem is, pure has 3 demanding needs:
•Very mana hungry, needing between 10-15 mr for full Spellspam,

•Having not only to counter the -1 3rd spellcost, but reduce it further to 1 mana, requires lots of -spellcost items and usually 129 int too.

•when those 2 requirements are met and keeping good meteor damage, you’re typically looking at a super glassy build (~20k ehp).

You’re stuck with WA, and an already glassy build relying solely on agi is just asking to get 1-tapped by anything. So, WFA. But dex items are integral for their sp, raw spell, and sometimes even -spell cost.

At this point you needs tons of sp, which are more scarce in 1.20.3, plus ludicrous mr, plus big spellcost reductions, and trying to have enough ehp to actually make use of your damage before you die.

In summary, I think pure is a fun gimmicky item that can do more than decent damage if you’ve got high cps and accuracy, and if you’re fine being a bit glassy.

But unless you can consistently & accurately perform 3 spells per second, and your connection is fast and stable enough to facilitate that, and unless you can dodge pretty well, you’re probably better off going with a legendary like peaceful rest for spellspam, or if you’re still in the market for a mythic, then fatal or singu boast probably the highest damage you can get on mage, and monster with armor powders can get up there too while being very tanky.

Of course, Wynn is a video game and if you have more fun playing pure, then none of this really matters ;)

Playstyle: Anything, probably hybrid though
Requirements: Nothing too expensive or hard to get, I don't really like mage so I'm not that willing to grind dungeon or LI shit for this or shell out stacks of LE. no mythic boots lel

Preferences: I'm just looking for a half-decent kinda-budget engame build that uses Morrowind, I got one with really good rolls and I haven't had an air build in a while so I really want to use it. All the better if it's off-meta. Don't care what other elements are used as long as it's mostly air

Keep in mind the massive damage increase from curse/courage, when comparing builds that can use them (prest) and ones that generally can't (event horizon). Event will get more consistent damage numbers in relatively short encounters, but for any fight that lasts more than a couple seconds, and especially for boss battles, curse/courage really shine.

Curse buffs 11k meteors to 18k and courage to 16k. This isn't even taking into account stacking multiple curse or courage effects at once. If you can consistently keep even one curse/courage active, this allows more tanky builds to outcompete damage-wise with builds that can't utilize curse/courage.

 

Very true, just wanted to add that when using mana regen (event horizon) you can stay further away from your enemy making it easier to dodge attacks and your mana is more consistant since there is a chance mana steal doesnt proc. I feel like its a good balance there and its up to personal preference what you want to use.

 

I agree, very much up to personal preference. I personally also prefer pure mana regen for spell mage builds for similar consistency reasons. But you don't have to use mana steal in a build you use interpolated melees in.

If you're using a tankier mage build, you'll be able to get closer to the enemy without much danger, therefore being able to charge and proc curse/courage. This brings your dps above standard non-curse/courage builds (if played well, and again not 100% consistent), and since you're a tank, your ehp is already higher.

I just thought it deserved some attention since they're sometimes ignored a bit in class builds.

Heyo, recently came back to Wynn and can't remember the last time I played on my 105 Assasins account but the armor I currently have is wack and would like some suggestions.
Class: Assassin [105]
Playstyle: Spamming spells = live
Restrictions: Preferably a set under 20LE and Don't have any LI items.
Preferences: Wanna be able to complete LI and preferably good enough for just most endgame stuff aswell
