Hey I'm not looking for anything specific but what are some high tier mage builds that dont use mythics? Both for support and dps

 

I just got this build for my mage, haven't used it much but it is good support for raids, has decent damage, and can duel wield king of hearts

Class: Archer
Play stile: Something useful that can use the evolved and OLily (so maybe spellspam/mele hybrid)
Restrictions: No LI (only mythic i have is Revenant)
Preferences: Dont wanna get oneshot

Best wands:
Prest is generally gonna be your best bet for spellspam. The Nothing can get similar numbers but can't use curse/courage so it actually loses lots of damage, but can be built in interesting ways/niches that prest can't. Nepta is good too but haven't seen a nepta build that prest can't beat.

Then if you're fine using mana steal I'm sure @Kiocifer has insane event horizon builds for you.

For support, just slap King of Hearts on any build that can use it as a secondary and spam heals with it.

 

Class: Mage
Playstyle: Tierstack
Restrictions: I want to use Singularity with the build. I would not prefer to use Mythic boots. Any LI and Hive items are fine.
Preferences: Something that isn't too glassy and has good dps. Might not be possible, but a small bit of mana for using KoH.

Playstyle: Spell spam
Restrictions: Nighthawk, Grandmother, 10/4mr w/1 mana storms + 2 mana bombs, some sort of defense sp
Preferences: None

I tried to come up with a few GMA spell spam builds but they often lack either SP or mana regen. Was wondering whether you guys could help.

Playstyle: Spell Spam (MR)
Restrictions: Must use Pure, Must use Dragon Dance boots
Preferences: At least a good chunk of defensive sp, not tons needed though.
I've been trying to come up with a dragon dance pure build that doesn't suck, and am struggling. I really wanna use dragon dance and just can't figure it out.

 

not atlas, but you're asking for too much here. You can't have all of that on a gma build
however, this might be the closest thing to it.
you sacrifice your desired mr and nighthawk, but let's be real here, you don't need nighthawk and the mr is still manageable (pump the brakes on your spell cycling a bit)

Thanks for this, I kind of feel like building the super tank but I've been told that the towers damage scales up (quite significantly) every minute it's alive. I presume this means I should go the damage version, but then I'm not sure if it's tanky enough to endure a tower at medium defense... Do you still use the water damage version on your current mage(s)? Maybe we could hop in VC and test it out in current wars sometime? Also, I'm not sure curse workers on towers but I'm fairly certain courage would.

Can you elaborate on this? I thought both prest and the nothing couldn't use courage because they become super slow attack speed?

??? Powder specials don't change attack speed, and you probably won't be meleeing with The Nothing

 

Yeah I know I'm asking for a lot, but it's really only meant for EO speedrunning. Nighthawk is a MUST for this.

If it's not possible, I will just stick to my lower dps crafted bow.

Sorry I should have phrased it better. You only gain a portion of the charge towards a powder special when you land a melee hit, correct? So super fast attack speed weapons essentially can use the powder special more often than super slow weapons like Prest?

Also I got a response from elsewhere that the answer to my initial question was simply that The Nothing has 0 powder slots lol

your reqs were way too punishing to make an actually good build

this technically ticks all the boxes but it's an absolutely abysmal build and you would be far better off using a real build

No, this is a common misunderstanding. Super slow is better for charging powder specials (and lifesteal/mana steal, for that matter). See this comprehensive powder guide. Consistently meleeing with any attack speed is enough to charge a special in 5-6 seconds. Super slow is simply easier to consistently melee with since you don't have to do it as often, and it fits nicely between cycles. Therefore prest is better than nepta for using specials in spell builds.

Also, it's worth it to melee once very quickly in-between spell cycles (I don't even notice it) in order to charge curse as it provides a significant damage increase. For example, R-R-L-R-L-L-L would perform snake, meteor, melee. This interpolated melee doesn't mess up your spell cycles but does charge curse/courage in a couple hits. Courage provides a smaller increase for a shorter time, but is better for non-boss scenarios than curse since curse disappears when the target dies, whereas courage applies to the player. I prefer curse, as the damage boost is most applicable to bosses.

On the "damage" build I gave you, you'll do ~16k meteors, on average, without curse, but nearly ~23k, on average, with curse. And yes, I'm 99.99% sure that curse works on anything you can melee hit, which I believe includes guild towers.

This spell steal efficiency analysis by @Druser may also be helpful understanding interpolated melees (but is likely superfluous for our needs here).

Preferences:Use the exploit , 20k dps or up , at least 50% stealing

 

Class: Maxed Archer
Playstyle: spell semi-tanky
Restrictions: No mythic armor unless its like under 1-2 stacks and makes a legitimate difference
Preferences: Choosing between freedom and Spring, but leaning towards Freedom. Would prefer over 25-30k EHP w Freedom, or as tanky as you can get with the Spring without sacrificing a lot of damage.
