Archer Should Be Able To Use Escape In The Air

    When playing on my archer, I used escape to jump in the air. Pretty normal, but then I accidentally scrolled to another hotbar slot. I then proceeded to enter free-fall and die upon collision with the ground. Now, this wouldn't be such a problem if other classes fell to a similar fate; however, this is not the case. Warrior can charge in air, Mage can teleport, and Assassin can vanish. These three classes can use their second ability to negate fall damage. Archer cannot use escape, his second ability, midair. However, allowing archer to use escape midair would allow him to reach insane heights and can be op.

    The solution: when archer uses escape mid-air, skip the upwards boost and initiate the slow descent (which negates fall damage).

    Another solution would be to not take away the slowed decent after switching to a different item in the hotbar. Either way though, this would be a nice addition to archers kit.

    Great idea. As BethJerry above said, the slow fall could also alternitavely not disappear.

    But archer DOES need something like this.

    Please no. You can actually use switching slots to travel faster since falling normally is faster than pressing shift and resetting your momentum.

    I like the idea of slow falling after an escape, even if you switch to another item in your hot bar, maybe a potion or something. Whatever it may be. But being able to cast the spell multiple times, especially while in mid air, would be absolutely crazy and terrible for the game, basically because of what Aarontti said above. Mage and Warrior's spells have a much harder time traveling upwards, in comparison to Archer. Giving Archer the same functionality as Mage and Warrior, but with that upwards range, would just be insane. Archer would then outclass everything in terms of mobility, which it does in some cases, but not every case like it would if Archer could spam escape in mid air.

    The implementation of keeping slow fall active after switching to another item may take too much coding or recoding to actually be put into the game. Seems like it would be a simple change, but it's more than likely not. The fact that it's not a high priority compared to a lot of other current issues, as not many people really have a major problem with this or suggested this, makes it less likely to be changed soon, if at all. (I guess this could be said for most suggestions though, and it's certainly not a bad idea to suggest anything at any time.) The concept, if implemented correctly, is a cool idea nonetheless.

    Your proposed solution actually sounds pretty nice, since it still allows for default normal descents if you switch hotbar slots, and isn't absolutely broken.

    You also get to keep horizontal momentum if you switch slots quickly. There's a lot involved in efficient archer fast travel.

    I think infinitely spamming escape mid air would cause issues, first off parkour would be meaningless because three escapes without worrying about landing and your done, second to run away there would be no issue what so ever. All in all I think it breaks archer and everyone who voted yes are just archers wanting to be overpowered

    You could have actually saved yourself from dying here. If you are falling with an archer and are going to hit the ground and you have enough time to get back to the slot with your bow, you can actually re-cast escape 2-4 blocks above the ground if you look straight down. Then you can *hopefully* ride the descent more successfully the second time ;). I also suggest not using the scroll wheel if you're prone to slipping like that. Otherwise, I think your suggestion would still be unbalanced. As it is, escape is very powerful and doesn't need that kind of change IMO.

    ^ Escape spell activating a few blocks above the ground is literally the most recent Escape mechanic I learned - don't know how I didn't realize it earlier, since I've been using it slightly above water forever. That said, I usually only manage to get it off about half the time.
