Adding onto this, I've learned that when you don't know how to do something, just look for examples from others, and note what you like about them. Then, just use your notes, or even just block-for-block copy them. Even when copying, you still learn about building subconsciously.

first of all, thanks! I do search some things up and study them, but block by block copying them hasnt ever really come to mind!

Can confirm block-for-block copying. I'm not a builder, but I'm a skin-maker, and when I first started out, I'd trace over the shading on others' skins in a different colour, to learn different styles as well as what works and what doesn't before beginning to refine my own style. When you see a build you like, ask yourself why you like it, what makes it good, what makes it work. (This is just what I've taken away from my experiences in creative writing and making Minecraft skins--I don't know how well this'll apply to building.)

This does work really well for building, pretty much anything that has to do with aesthetics, this should work really well

I'm ngl, I'll admit I was expecting mess of a build... but actually rly good!

as most ppl have alr covered stuff, I'll just say that using dark blocks (I build in 1.16 so for me that would be blackstone) really adsa bit of highlight. also, addimg a "theme" color outside of the gray/black/brown, that rly helps as well!! *for example, look at the red&yellow in ragni)

red and yellow!? I have never seen red and yellow in Ragni before, not for any walls or anything at least... weird
and yes I have been trying to do that as much as possible, I actually just a made a build with a green theme I'll send it right here if you want to check it out

I didn't use any Blackstone or anything but I just haven't thought of something I could use it for yet. I just cant find anything that would feel right for it so I just don't use it that often.
I've noticed that using simpler shapes make my builds look WAY better than when I do complicated ones. So I've stuck with using that style now.

Quick tip for worldedit: just use some server host and install it. Most of them will have a "Plug-ins" section, you should be able to install WE and VS with it, and you don't need to use forge to connect.

I tried using a free server host (minehut) but half of the commands, most noticable being /u, just wouldnt work. and also forge!?!?! I dont know what youre oding but forge has nothing to do with this. world edit is a plugin you can just get straight of the bat if you make your own server, and is not only required to have for voxel to work, but also using the mod doesnt even work on servers so that wouldnt work anyways.
if you want to have all of the features of voxel and world edit without having to pay for it, then you can check out these videos.
this is how you set up the server:
this is how you install voxel and WE:
I do hope this didnt sound mean, reading it over did kinda make me worry but i would HEAVILY suggest using a server running off of your own pc. its so much easier and theres just so many more possabilities
btw i would also suggest getting this on it too:

yea running it off your own computer's technically better, but my computer isn't exactly great (4GB RAM, i-5 CPU) so I've had to use server hosts.

    ooh yeah thats understandable
I have 16gb of ram(had 8 till christmas, but it still worked fine) and an amd a10 7800 cpu with radeon 7800 intergrated graphics(kinda into pc's so my descriptions may be a bit more detailed) overall though you can try it. there isnt really any harm to doing it and if it ends up working, then youll have a better server experience! though there is still the possabilitie that youve already treid and it just straight up failed.
if youre using a pc tower, that has more ram slots you should be able to upgrade it really easily. it doesnt take much effort at all, though you should try going for the same type and speed as your current. if you buy a faster speed, then youll just be wsting money, due to the fact that the motherboard just sticks to the slowest ram speeds and will just under perform the new stick you would have just gotten, but if you get a lower speed, its basically the oposite. it will slow down your current ram speed which might not be worth it. so you should be careful, and I would heavily suggest checking it before upgrading.
now if you use a laptop... get a new computer. k this was a joke but also not, this is the only way I know that you can upgrade a laptop(this works for all in ones too, those being computers built into the monitor) plus if youre on a budget and want to be able to be able to upgrade your pc down the line, using a tower is easily the best option. plus RGB is easier to install which is proven to increase performance(this is a joke dont take it seriously)
this actually wasn't planned for the message it just kinda happened due to me thinking :| so I hope this didnt sound to nerdy or geeky, as that is one of my more dominant traits, and can be incridebly annoying... another another one of my dominant traits... well this ended up being way longer than i intended.. ima stop typing now before I break my keyboard.

I run servers on an i-5 with 1 GB allocated to it all the time (and 2-3 instances of minecraft + all my browser tabs + eclipse). RAM might be an issue at 4GB, and I have 11 or some weird number. Works just fine for testing small plugins. World edit might be a bit much, but FAWE should have no problem at all.
World edit has a forge version, but that only works on forge servers or single player.

yes I know world edit has a forge version, that's what I used to use before using a server. But I didn't know anyone actually used that mod in servers, considering its also a plugin, and could work without that.

I didn't scroll down. Sorry, although some closer images and maybe some interiors (if you didn't do them that's understandable) would be nice.

Anyways, it looks really good. I love that part with the crystal floating, and the large building is pretty good too. I will note that your trees could use some work and the terraining still shows that it was made using spheres. Also you might want to incorporate some form of gradient in the cliffs or stone structures, I find that that's a simple thing to do with world edit that really helps them look more interesting, since random mixtures get boring at a distance.

I did do interiors for the smaller builds(castle would've been way to much energy) but they weren't very note worthy anyway so.

yeh my trees aren't the best in any stretch of the imagination, which is something that im not really sure how to go forward on, but also don't focus on that much anyways so...

and yes the terrain was done with voxel and quite a bit of the terraforming hasn't been smoothed over. that pretty much has to do with the time constraints and me being lazy :|

also I tried doing the gradient thing but my pc was so slow that it just wouldn't let me, so I just had to change all of the block at one time. plus it was looking kinda bad because of my block choice so. I will work on that as soon as my pc makes it bearable. thanks for the advice :)

If you are having issues with your pc then you might want to try using the fast async versions, fawe and favs. FAWE is really fast, and the brush system mostly makes voxelsniper pointless. I also easily do large operations on a pc that normally hates world edit. FAWE also has a lot more features that world edit doesn't have. However, you need to set up a server to use this, but that's not the most difficult thing to do. Also the lightcleaner plugin is highly recommended.

I do use a server and I do use the fastasync. I think its just my pc being kinda laggy. usually when I use a brush itll take like 5-15 seconds to actually show up, and it takes that amount of time between every brush placed too so if I clicked like 4 times within a second, it would take almost a minute for all of them to show up, which gets really annoying when painting a whole mountain. im almost certain its a pc problem so...
but yeh fast async is prob way better than the other kind. though I wouldn't say it makes voxel completely pointless when you consider the "/ b e" commends, like/ b e smooth, or /b e fill. both of which I use very often and haven't found a way to replace with worldedit yet
