Another Soul Switching Quest Where You Fight Yourself

I think it would be cool if there was a quest where your character was driven to the point of insanity and their soul escaped their body and you had to fight your soul to overcome your insanity. The fight wouldn't be too hard but it would be challenging considering the soul uses the same items you have. In order to not make the fight just a PVP duel simulation, your soul could have a fixed amount of HP like a real boss, but do damages in the elements you are using and have your defenses. Basically dark link.

I think this would be a really great way to demonstrate how those who are corrupted feel, and struggle to fight against their soul / body as it corrupts.

Perhaps in that case it would be better for you to be your soul and to fight your body, representing a lack of control.

 

This sounds like a great idea! And I agree with what Theeef said on how it demonstrates corruption of the mind.

Adding onto this idea, I believe this could be a late-game quest where the player is finally powerful enough to enter the Nether Portal at the Roots of Corruption. Ever since the Nether's PvP was removed, it simply remained there with no function as you could not enter it. We've seen NPC's enter and return damaged or corrupted, but it's always been inclusive as to what's on the other side that's inflicting this. With this quest, the player would better understand the Nether in its entirety and hopefully how to oppose and put an end to the spreading corruption.

The only issue is how this quest is initiated. The player can't just hop into the Nether Portal because they just randomly decided to do so or some NPC told them to because the player is strong enough, there has to be a motive to do so. If anyone has any thoughts on this, please let me know. Maybe it could relate to Dern? I don't know, but I am interested in looking more into this idea.
