The six of you, after walking for a few more minutes, arrive at the shore of the Lake of Gondathor. Vines and long grass choke the mouth of a twenty foot deep, square mineshaft in the ground. Bits of bracing timber, faded dwarven runes carved into them, jut out from the sides of the pit, hanging above the darkness below and a tiny trickle of water falls over the edge of the shaft. There are some thorny vines surrounding the site and small pits dug into the ground. A thin line of string runs around the mine. The nearby trees look corrupted and twisted.

Something begins to hiss from behind the trees...

The rats seem to be a little scared. A small group breaks off from the swarm and starts to flee.

I think Erevan still has that "Light Pebble" but it's probably not glowing anymore.
Could he use Light on it and throw it towards the rats? Maybe they are scared of light.

 

If they're scared of light, then why would they be out attacking you in bright daylight?

 

Nevermind then. I was trying to do something out of the ordinary.

Dmg if hit: 2 fire dmg.

 

Maybe some creatures inside the mineshaft dislike light?

It hits, burning most of the rats. The remaining two rats dodge it.
