Does Lycan know what Elzen's talking about from that?

 

You know what you heard

 

Not directly but you should be able to deduce it. You will have heard a roar coming from a bear, then Elzen has told you about the bears and their bigger version before including mentioning the alignment so you can make an educated guess. Also you can make a perception check and possibly catch a glimpse of them.

I'm not sure what you mean.

 

If he knows I'm talking about the mutant bears, he hasn't seen them yet I think.

 

Basically, does Lycan connect what Elzen said earlier to one of those bear things he encountered earlier?

Spoiler: If yes, I'll say the following before continuing with my move.

Lycan: "The beast is most likely the spawn of a larger god-beast. I'd rather we not provoke it."

I'll take out a dagger, attempt to hide behind the tree my character is at, and stand by until further notice.

With a mighty strike, you tree shakes for a moment, before crashing to the ground with an explosive sound. Make a Dexterity saving throw to jump off the tree before you hit the earth with it.

How are you hidden? You didn't try to hide, and the mist cloud doesn't do enough to completely hide you.

You barely manage to get off the falling tree, but you hit the ground face-first and land prone.

 

You tried to climb a tree in six seconds. It's rather hard to do that while avoiding notice from a giant bear that's ten feet away.
