Quick question what do the hp pools mean on the displacer beasts hp?

It's means it's a paragon monster. Im I'm not mistaking it means that if a pool has 1hp and a second one has 30, 31 damage won't kill it but only kill the first pool.

 

I'm sorry but what's a paragon monster.
Is it like monster type (fey, fiend, monstrosity, etc.)

 

Ask Aarakocra, he's the one making them.

 

It's a paragon monster. Effectively, it has multiple pools of health.

This displacer beast's type is "paragon monstrosity". It's an addition to monster type.

 

Is there anything else then 2 hp pools to paragon monsters?

 

Yes, but I'm not telling you what it is yet.

Actually, (the way Spyro's been ruling it, anyway) half of the remaining damage would carry over to its next health pool. I'm not sure how @Aarakocra intends to handle that, though.

I have a specific idea of what will happen here.

Look, I'm out of commission for like the first 18+ hours of each weekend day because of oversleep and being dragged around everywhere by family. Soo....
Bardic Inspiration (d6) for Erevan. Now it's his turn.

 

Suddenly, two people and a large bear monster (you recognize it as the one that attacked you earlier) run towards the scene. One man wears purplish mage's robes similar to those of Erevan, and the other is in priestly garments and wears a gear on a pendant around his neck.

You find three people in a cave fighting a large, catlike monster with tentacles protruding from it. One of the men is wearing armor, one in purplish mage's robes, and one in a bard's clothes. A fourth man in light armor is lying wounded next to the monster.

You recognize the robed man as Elzen, a fellow Arcanaeum member who was traveling with you and with who you lost contact with after the boat crash on the way here.

Okay. I use my last spell slot to cast Chaos Bolt.

Attack roll: 11+5=16

Damage: Idk how in the world I rolled max damage but... 8+8+6=22 Thunder damage.

Apparently, sice I rolled 8 on both d8s, I make a new roll against another creature.
Attack on Illusion?: ro18+5= 23. Damage: 7+7+3:17 Psychic damage.

Uhhhhh, does the bolt ricoshet back to the real beast now??
