How long does this code 'refractor' have left?

 

They did start, redoing the entire game takes time though...

 

They've been on it for months, that's the reason the latest updates didn't have much new code involved.

Anyway, later on he said max 4-5 weeks. Obviously they didn't make it, Grian hadn't told the rest of the CT yet that he had this release date in mind.

 

So "the whole game". So they are revamping all the code? How many things does this refractor affect?

 

Everything.
It was confirmed that no wipes will follow though incase you were wondering (Guild stats and player stats will remain the same).
This code refactor is basically like getting a brand new game engine to develop Wynn, One way less outdated and much easier to use, Which is of course going to result is a huge amount of constant updates (At least what we're hoping for), This code refactor from how I see it, Will decide the future of Wynn, If all goes as planned after the code refactor we should get the main story very quickly and Wynn will become better than ever from gameplay and player count aspects, On the other hand- If this code refactor ends up somewhat failing us, Wynn will most likely keep dying slowly like it currently is.

As for how late this current update is- I honestly have no fucking clue.
CT has been claiming that this update is nothing special, A few new quests and a few revamps, So I really am having a hard time thinking of excuses for what happened.

 

That's what they want you to think.

When the update drops you'll do that new level 80 quest that sends you to a mysterious coordinate in the middle of the ocean, and when you get there you find a gigantic landmass rivaling the size of Corkus.

And then, when you though you were safe, a phrase feared by many fills your screen;

"Entering the Province of Drun'dek"

 

It's not going to be super fast. Just a lot faster and generally more enjoyable for the coders.

Well its technically (and theoretically) true. The code refactor will make GMs' jobs a whole lot more easier, as making quests, items, mobs, etc won't take as long as before. Existing bugs will be squashed, so quality of gameplay will improve. The QA team and developers can locate new bugs easier as a revamped code will be much more neat and tidy.

 

Recoding the game from scratch takes a long time, but seeing as they've been going for a year, I'd expect it to be finished 2018 or early 2019

You can’t claim HOW much tidier it will be. They may technically make it faster, though it may not be significant.

 

Grian's not wrong. It's been at least 2 months.

 

So... this update is supposed to LEAD to the Dern update because its called "Road to Dern" update. I'm guessing either 1.18 or 1.19 will be the Dern update? Also tbh, I'm more interested in the province of Fruma. I'm definitely going there when its released.

 

This update is not the Road to Dern update.
