Addressing Necroposting

3 months after this thread is inactive, there will be someone replying to this and asking "Is this necroposting"?

 

Oh... So it wasn't closed because of Necroposting, but because of personal attacks

This thread was made shortly after Gavel was released. However, a multitude of people felt it was necessary to point out that Fruma is confirmed months after the initial posting. Here's what I suggest for those that don't want to necropost:

1. LOOK AT THE INITIAL POST DATE
   • If the information seems outdated or strange this could be the main reason
2. Look at "Last Edited:" if available
   • This is highly recommended for shops/suggestions/anything that is updated
   • If the Last Edited is fairly recent then feel free to respond to the OP (Original Post). If there is any faulty information that was pointed out on page 10, but the thread owner decides not to update despite the Last Edited date being earlier than the correction suggestion, then it is the poster's fault for not changing
   • If the Last Edited is old or nonexistent refrain from replying to the OP.
3. Skip to the last and 2nd to last page.
   • This will tell you if thread is still active
   • CHECK FOR NECROPOSTING
     • The reason I also say 2nd page is because the last page could simply be the necropost and replies that follow it because the thread got bumped
     • Also check the frequency of posting
       • If posts are being made every 1-2 days or sooner then the thread is fairly active
       • If posts are being made every 2-4 weeks the thread is on the brink of dying
       • If posts are being made every 1+ months then it is being necroposted on and you should not post on it.
4. Realize how you found the thread
   • Commonly necroposted threads:
     • Links in player's signatures
     • Thread on an uncommon topic/keyword
     • Thread by a player that posts threads rarely
   • If you didn't find the thread under "New Posts" or within the first 10 pages of any forums sections PLEASE use caution.
5. USE YOUR COMMON SENSE
