Adding A New Class: The Shielder(protector)

    -WARNING- This is an idea of a class some of the things you may read look odd in your eyes but please add your own ideas so I can have a better grasp of what to rework on skills .

    My idea of this class was someone who can help in parties that need that extra defense and healing. Sure you can just create a party of 2 Warriors and a single Mage, but what is the fun in that if you are just trying to be the main tank of the group. I used references of the anime "The Rising Of The Shield Hero" for having that ideal Shielderness that what people may want or think about. But having this sort of class added in the game will bring so much possibilities for boss runs and PVP wise.

    Damage – 1/5
    Defense – 5/5
    Range 4/5
    Spells 3/5

    Shielder (Protector)
    Bio: Shielder’s are the main reason that adventures survive to tell a tale. Being able to slow the enemies while causing a staggering effect to them. Not only having a high defense that allows them to be undamageable. There main source of power of crowd control is to make all enemies target the Shielder. When everything surrounding them, the Shielder release a huge shield blast causing the enemies to be knocked back and stunned.

    Weapon – Shield
    In Depth View: Using a shield is just as the same the assassin dagger or as the warrior’s spear. Being up close to bash enemies back dealing decent amount of damage.

    Skills
    Root: Causing enemies to be slowed and deal staggering damage.
    [RLR]
    Grade: 1 (Lv.1) – Cost 6 Mana
    100% Damage
    20% Water
    + Slow and staggering damage last for 8 seconds

    Grade: 2 (Lv.16) – Cost 6 Mana
    120% Damage
    20% Water
    + Slow and Staggering damage last for 12 seconds
    + Soul Stealer Shield: causing mana steal towards enemies being affected by the Root skill.

    Grade: 3 (Lv.36) – Cost 6 Mana
    120% Damage
    40% Water
    + Linger Effect: Enemies that effected by the Root skill tend to stay in the Root skill for another 12 seconds. (Based on Thunder)

    In Depth View: The idea of this was for the Shielder to be able to have a binding skill that causes damage and supports the party. This skill only works on enemies that the Shielder can see in front of them. The range of the skill would be 4 blocks across, and 5 blocks width of the Shielder’s POV. How it work, using the Root skill causes the enemies in front a slow and a staggering damage effect that last for a period of seconds.


    Protect: Jumping to a single enemy or a player.
    [RRR]
    Grade 1 (Lv.11) – Cost 4 Mana

    Grade 2 (Lv.26) – Cost 4 Mana
    + Shielder’s Touch: Adds a heal effect when jumping to a player.

    Grade 3 (Lv.46) – Cost 4 Mana
    + Vanguards Approach: Giving Shielder and ally 5 extra hearts but will disappear if damaged or timer of 1 min ends.

    In Depth View: Idea was for the Shielder to jump on enemies in order to take a hit for allies or jumping on to an ally that needed healing. The range of this would be as far as the Warrior charge, because needing an ally as the Shielder will provide heal and as well knock back on enemies.


    Hatred: Causing enemies to focus attacks on the Shielder and gain 1 minute of all defense buffs.
    [RLL]
    Grade 1 (Lv.21) – Cost 10 Mana
    200% Defense
    20% Fire

    Grade 2 (Lv.36) – Cost 10 Mana
    250% Defense
    30% Fire
    + Iron Fortress: causes the Shielder to have an additional 7 hearts but last for 10 seconds.

    Grade 3(Lv.56) – Cost 10 Mana
    300% Defense
    30% Fire
    + Obsidian Shield: causes the Shielder to be undamageable for 1 minute.

    In Depth View: The idea for this was to base it all on the Shielders defense and make sure that their allies are safe while being the main parties defense in all. How it works is the Shielder uses the Hatred skill causing enemies that are being fought focus on the Shielder only and this stays in effect until another player begins to hit a mob affected by this skill. For the 1-minute defense buff it just means not being affected by poison, fire, dizziness, and any other trait in vanilla Minecraft.


    Petrifying Blast: Blasting enemies with a knockback and giving them a petrify status.
    [RRL]
    Grade 1 (Lv.31) – Cost 8 Mana
    100% Damage
    50% Earth
    + Petrify Status last for 30 seconds

    Grade 2 (Lv.46) – Cost 8 Mana
    100% Damage
    70% Earth
    25% Water
    + Petrify Status last for 30 seconds
    + Shatter: If enemy is destroyed by petrifying blast, mana is refunded.

    Grade 3 (Lv.66) – Cost 8 Mana
    100% Damage
    70% Earth
    25% Water
    + Petrify Status last for 30 seconds
    + Terrain Status: When allies hit with Petrifying Blast, they gain 2 mins of attack boost.

    In Depth View: This Idea was 1 of many concepts on how the Shielder would use a final act to help his allies become victorious. How it works is that the Shielder uses their shield to blast all enemies around them (AOE) dealing damage and giving them a knockback and a petrify status. The range of the knockback would be 5-6 blocks away from the Shielder depending how close they are towards them. With the Petrify status it would allow allies or the Shielder to create a counter attack to finish up the battle.

    I'm not really sure if I would want a class that has only 1 strong purpose. We just need a class with different unique abilities and does not limit them for only 1 purpose. That's what builds are for. Different classes can be tanks, supporter, or damaging dealers. If you think about it, all the classes have a mixture of both. Warrior has War Scream, Mage: Heal, Archer: Speed, Assassin: Vanish, Shaman: Totem. They all have a movement spell, support spell, attack spell, and another random spell.

    I feel like the concept is too similar to a warrior, both in terms of being designed to absorb damage as well as having abilities to knock back enemies and buff allies. I'm also not sure how applicable it'd be for solo play or pvp either, especially since it'd have the lowest damage in the game. What do you see as the biggest difference between a shielder and a warrior? And what could you do to further push a shielders uniqueness?

    Root:
    Grade 2 - How is mana steal calculated? Your current mana steal or is it fixed?
    Grade 3 - 12 seconds of slow is a lot, most classes' slow/stun effects are 1 second

    Protect:
    Grade 2 - How is regen calculated?
    Grade 3 - What does 5 extra hearts mean? Health in Wynn is very different from vanilla Minecraft, and 5 hp is essentially nothing.

    Hatred:
    Grade 2 - Same feedback as grade 3 of protect
    Grade 3 - Obsidian shield is just way too overpowered. Even for costing 10 mana. Natural mana regen is about 1 mana per second, so in the minute of invincibility, you get all of your mana back 6 times over. I would honestly make it similar to assassin's vanish, however, instead of draining mana you neither lose nor regen it.

    Petrifying Blast:
    Grade 1 - What is petrify? And if it is like Disease on Spin Attack, 30 seconds is way, way too long. 1 second of stun is already incredibly powerful
    Grade 2 - Regen all mana on kill with the spell. Yeah, this is also really powerful. I'd remove this honestly for something else, though I don't know what
    Grade 3 - Pretty much War Scream. Also what percentage damage increase is it?

    I see I understand the "1 purpose" does show that the Shielder is just meant for that I will do more thinking about the ways how it can have its own such as the rest like the "war Scream. Thank you for the feedback!

    The difference I tried to bring out on the Shielder is the the Petrify skill and the Hatred skill in order to stun enemies but that does seem the same as the warrior. But as for the Hatred skill its more of a "Hey target me than the others" but that does seem useless in PVP. I will work on this more and for more uniqueness I am always using my references from the anime "The Shield Hero" and I thought about if some of the skills were possible and some that aren't but I will think of more ways how to address the Shielders true capability's.     I have changed it from being a website and forums, my mistake on that part.
    As well for the spells all of them were just ideas I wanted to be posted and gain more feedback on how it can actually work. I will put more thinking on all of this, but your right on the Obsidian Shield trait I did think this would be way overpowered and will completely erase that idea and change it to something more realistic. As for the 5 hearts I tried to think of it as using a golden apple and you gain extra hearts but I will redo my thinking about how the extra hearts work and how to better change it.     That's not what I meant.

    1. This class looks like it's only for 1 purpose, protecting and supporting players. That would mean if you play solo, it's almost impossible to do anything by yourself since almost all of the spells are support/weakening spells. Sure some classes have different purposes, but they can still solo and do alot of dmg with the weapons in the game and the spells, while here all of the spells are for helping/supporting someone and you don't really do damage.

    2. This class isn't unique from other classes. The shield is the same weapon as daggers and spears. Root is like ice snake, Protect is like charge, Taunt/Hatred is a new one, but I can see this being implement as a major ID or in a different way like the Major ID of guardians steals 30% dmg around players. And Perfiyinng Blast is basically war scream. A good example of a good new class is the new Shaman. It introduced a new mechanic with the totem which is really fun and new. A class that was suggested a lot was a Summoner/Necromancer Class where you can control enemies which would be fun and interesting to test out, but that would be kinda hard to find implement and with the new Pet's Update, they are basically you're army.

    There is a new class suggestion every 3 days but none of them ever make it into the game.

    Pretty interesting idea, but, I must agree with some of the others on this post that Warrior and Shielder would be a bit too much alike. Plus...How would a Shielder fit into the lore? Shields are probably able to make some good Mythics (and subsequently good stories and lore), but...Well, wouldn't you use it, like, with something else?

    Shields are a great secondary weapon, and unless we can do the Captain America with these Shields...Eh, it probably doesn't fit very well without a teammate or ally.

    I like the concept...but it just doesn't fit, sadly.

    Als what? Shields are completely canon and medieval, there is nothing indicating they aren't

    Whether it would fit ingame is another thing
