When playing Wynncraft you might come across the term Bovemist (I came across this one most often) from time to time. This is a Wynncraft religion that is more of a joke then an actual worked out part of the lore. We can see that there are churches build to pray to the almighty cow. Sadly we never really get any lore about any of the religions that are present in Wynn/Gavel/Corkus, we tend to get some hints towards the existence of certain religions where Bovemism seems the most included one in the entire world.

I feel like there is a lot of potential to work out more lore on the entire subject of religion, which could eventually play a big part in adding more detail and immersion into the MMO that we know as Wynncraft.

    Think about the following possibilities:
    • Picking a religion for your character. By picking a religion for your character you will get a small buff and de-buff, for example one religion gives you an xp bonus while the other would give you a damage bonus.
    • More lore immersion. Adding more lore to the already existing religions will improve immersion into the entire story of Wynncraft. it will also allow the players to find out more about the lands they are playing on.
    • More possibilities for quests. Adding more depth to the religions will allow for more quests to be added, they'd be based around the religion and while doing them you could explore more about the religion(s).

In conclusion I think Wynncraft could use a more in depth religion lore and perhaps even the ability to follow these religions, it will allow players to immerse more into the full story of the game and allow somewhat more of a peek into the full lore of the provinces.

Tbh I think bovemism isn't supposed to be the main religion ingame judging from some dialogue in quests like A Journey Beyond where people say ''Thank Grook'' instead of ''Thank bovine''. Not sure if bovemism includes grooks, but probably not. This means that there might be a hidden religion about Grooks or something.
The 4 known religions, if this is true, are:
    Bovemism
    Pepperism
    Grookism
    Naragathism

Also, I don't think they would add this. It'd be controversial.

TBH, wynncraft just needs more lore in general, this'd be a good start.

If you don't mind me asking how would it be controversial? It's not as if they are real religions? Look at other fantasy-related franchises. In skyrim and the tes universe - haven't played morrowind or oblivion so I don't know if there is other main religions - but you see the divines and the conflict with the Thalmor and Talos.

Similarly, in Game of Thrones you have the 7 compared with the old gods and the Lord of Light shenanigans, there is another religious conflict but because they are not real, they are not controversial ?

Hold on whilst writing this the thought occurred to me that you might have meant the buffs and picking a religion might be controversial in the community, soooo whoops!

It would be nice to see the lore explain which would be a main religion in the provinces, if there would even be a main religion. There's always the chance that humans believe in something totally different then villagers, but at this point in time there's not really anything to go on regarding religion. It seems more like they just shoved in a religious concept just for the sake of it being logical that a world has religions, it would be nice to see it actually worked out more.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I did see some other religions pop by, so far religions are linked to mods, a certain mod or creator in Wynncraft is seen as the god of that religion which is why it gives of more of a joking vibe then an actual religion concept.
I think Yahya and Grian for example also have some type of religion linked to them, alongside them there were quite a bit more (to be honest I don't even know if they're actual lore approved religions, I've seen them on the forums and I could see the connections with the game).

If I have to guess I think you're referring to the ability to pick a religion for your character, this of course isn't a necessity to add, it was an example of things you could achieve by adding a more fledged out religion system to the game. The main suggestion is that the team just takes a look at the religions that exist and actually give us some lore for them, some more information as to what they're about and the reason people would follow them.

I fully agree with this, I love the lore that they have in place so far but I think they could add a lot of new things to make it even better. Of course the team doesn't have an infinite amount of brains to think out all this lore and it will take time for them to add things which I fully understand. I just think it would be really nice to see a reason for people to continue on with the story other then just gaining levels to reach the highest level and completing the quests. Yes, there is lore elements which will drive you to finish the quests, but it feels as if (Gavel in particular) doesn't have a main quest line, just multiple quests that if you combine them form a bigger part of the lore of the province/religion/history of the world or more. Wynn (the province) seemed to have something more in this direction by adding Bob and a story around him, but this is just a story about one hero, there's so much more that could be added lore wise that I'd love to see in the game.

    I forgot about heliolux

Also i have never seen a Grian religion (maybe jumla is worshipped by the creepers in the pigman ravines but not grian)

As for Yahya, I think the people who like mushrooms are only referring to Yahya because he deals them those mushrooms and they are drug addicts

I also have some ideas for what some religions would give you

    Bovemism: More exp, less defense
Grookism: Less fall damage, more elementally weak
Heliolism: Stronger attack, less luck in loot chests and emerald drops (because they are against greed)
    Pepperism: More defense, less exp
Naragathism: More spell damage, lower regular damage
Jumlaism: More explosion defense, fear effect that gives you weakness at low health which prevents you from doing damage
Grianism: Better night vision, worse blindness (if you are blinded you cannot see anything) (the idea of this religion is that you can see Grian's lovely builds better)
Dernism: Incredible walkspeed bonus, Spider vision debuff (use of spells has a chance to give you spider vision for a minute. Test this perspective by using spectator mode on a spider in a regular creative world)
Greedism: More emeralds and loot bonus, less attack. The idea of this one is that the Villagers got so obsessed with emeralds that they formed a religion

Side religions (not really religions but are chosen with religions)

Bob fan: Positive buffs in Wynn (excluding SE), terrible debuffs in Gavel or Corkus
Siegfried fan: Positive buffs in Gavel including discounts on Seigfried merch, terrible debuffs in Wynn and Corkus
Redbeard investigator: Positive buffs in the ocean, bad debuffs in Wynn and Gavel

They may seem useless, but they have incredibly good buffs. You get insane discounts in these areas and great attack bonuses. You can change the side religion once a month. You do not have to use them.

I'm not 100% sure about the Grian thing, I just saw it pop by in a couple posts, not sure if I've seen any actual in game information about it though. Jumla might be a possibility although I don't think a religion has been made around this, even though creepers in general are mythical creatures that in the eyes of many don't exist, so I suppose you could have some sort of belief built around this.

I was thinking something like this as well, it seems more like a jokingly added "religion" (or I suppose more like a cult) of people just getting high on everything that is available in the world. You could in theory build a religion based on it or at least worship the "creator" of the freedom that they are referring to.

As for the ideas for buffs and de-buffs, I do like those. I think if they were to implement the ability to pick a religion these types of small changes would really make the gameplay more interesting.
