Is this rule too vague and should be edited?

A bit confusing. I know I wouldn't be saying the word "fuck" in front of my boss or teacher, but over here, I see a handful of posts containing that word, so it's kinda...u know, confusing? What's allowed and not allowed, true what the OP said, rules have to be a bit more specific.

In the context of movie ratings and who actually decides whether a movie is G, PG, PG-13, R, etc. is actually not widely known to the public. For all we know, it could easily be a panel of super-conservative people who inconsistently judge subjectively on what they "think" is appropriate for kids with no solid criterion whatsoever.

The fact that we are using this inconsistent and ambiguous term from a vague scale of maturity as the foundation for a rule which can arbitrarily be enforced makes little sense. Almost everything about this relies on the idea of "common sense", which itself is linked to maturity.

There is a need for a more well-defined, legalistic approach at setting the definition and standard of this rule, because as it stands, not even the team whose job it is to enforce the rule seems to agree on what is and is not illegal the majority of the time.

Some PG13 things are allowed but for some reason some other PG13 things are not.

And we're not told which ones are not. Oh well. Better just keep quiet.

Personally, while some swear words are less offensive, I see several (like the f bomb or sexual slang terms) constantly used without any sign of rule breaking. And what I really strikes me as strange is that DodoBird's signature has an extremely inappropriate joke in it, containing the f bomb and diving into the wonderful world of... sex.

I will say no more because the younger kids reading this don't want to be grossed out or tainted by my words. But, the rule of "PG-13" has hardly ever been enforced. I see swears and 18+ jokes all over this forum, and if the community wants to be suited for all ages, this rule isn't doing its job. It's even gotten to the point that staff are occasionally inappropriate, with Salted including the f bomb in one of the changelogs for the Gameplay Update (as one example).

The OP has brought up an important point. The rule is never enforced, so when the OP got warned/limited because of the rule it creates an issue of rule enforcement. I think the rule should be better enforced so that the community can be suitable for all ages. Warnings and potentially punishments should be given often to those who break this rule, and slowly the community will turn towards a better path for the future.

Younger kids deserve to use these forums, and not just those who are 18 and older.

That would be the Motion Picture Association of America or MPAA who decides on the ratings.
But what about the game itself? It has blood and jumpscares, not to mention in Memory Paranoia where a man rips out a woman's heart right in front of you.

The thing about that is that Minecraft graphics, even with blood and gore, don't capture the same feeling as games with higher graphics (such as Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty). So, even with images such as a heart being ripped out, the scene has a limited amount of gore in it.

And when I said "younger kids", I meant kids around 12 years old and up. They can handle the scenes and blood of the game, but they shouldn't be exposed to 18+ content (such as swearing or sex) within the game or the forums. The game's content has none of that, but the community (without the rule) forces that upon the player.

I agree with your points! I just hope that at some point everyone will take into consideration to not say things that they wouldn't say to their family...
