1) We can't outrun them
2) They have more cannons
3) They probably have more people

a) This means more damage then us at far range.

i) 100% loss rate that we lose if no deus x machina happens.​

By going in closer, we take the same rate of damage but cut the amount of shots short, since we're too close to fire saftly.
If our boat sinks, we take theirs. (Its a nice ipgrade anyways)
Most of us are more close range attackers rather than ranged attackers.

I would very much like to do this.

I'd like to ask how it's going daster than us with horrible sails and a heavoer load due to the cannons? The ship also has holes making it less streamline and waterlogging it. There no places for oars so it can't be that either. (If this is OOC knowledge we shouldn't have just say so)

Also, cannons should never be placed that coose to one another. A single cannonball will screw three of them over. Better to space them out and give them room to turn.

 

I’ve told you, it’s not affected by wind, so it’s driving itself forward. The cannons don’t aim. They shoot.

 

So,
Take the ship and paddle it back to the nearest island to fix it up

 

And get shot up by 10 cannons while fixing it?

The expected route is to fire back?
But 1 against 10 with the 10 being a bigger better ship. Unless they fail and we're amazing, we can't win this fight.
However: based on the picture and

We can assume that their ship needs to be perpendicular to ours for this to actually occur. (unless they have 10 cannons on each side and 10 more ontop facing forward for atleast 30 cannons)
So now my idea is to go back to shore and abandon the ship. We can get a new ship but I can't guarentee my life in this battle. :/
