A Review Of The Hide And Seek Event

I know they make fair points, but staff are so defensive over everything. Most staff on servers and video games tend to just nod their heads and go along with their fanbase, rather than trying to defend themselves.

 

imo it's best that they take the criticism and respond to it so they'll know what the player-base wants for the next event

 

Picture this: you have 450 people trying to solve a single hint, do seriously think it was going to be easy?

 

Or they can just listen to what the player dislikes, and accepts their criticism. Responding to players and defending themselves does nothing but aggravate the fan base. Why do you think developers and staff team for video games never make paragraphs defending themselves?

because they have more of a bigger platform that isn't minecraft to make their game on, and quite a few games don't have community events such as this

We are taking these criticisms in mind, we didn't exactly say there wasn't a problem with the event. Trying to provide some clarity on why we do things doesn't inherently mean we're not listening to the criticism we're replying to. I suppose I'm proving your point in a way by saying this, but eh, I think in this case I'm making a valid point.

 

Principles still apply, the scale doesn't matter, what does matter are principles. No matter how big or small a country is, it's laws and government's principles should stay the same.

Also I had a laggy laptop sadly. Plus how was round 6's hint supposed to be misinterpreted I thought of the Hive...

but yes, i expected it to be a bit easier. a hint is supposed to make it easier.

i will mention that i pointed out that it may have been my fault that i didn't bother to look around gavel that much before the event started, so that's probably why i didn't understand most of the hints. i'm also going to assume that you either weren't around for the event, or missed round 2. because those hints were absolutely ridiculous and very misleading.

 

I understand you take these criticisms in mind, neither have I ever said that the staff think their content is perfect. All I said is that staff should keep open ears and closed mouths when it comes down to player complaints.

 

I get your point here, but at the same time it's good to let players know about the staff's differing opinion on the matter. It might help them to see the situation in the different way, or at least let them know "hey this thing that you thought was a good idea has some big flaws actually"

 

But that's not how it is, at first I believed that was the case. But I've been watching mods and gms defending themselves and players ending up even more frustrated and angrier with the staff than they originally were. It's good to see things in different perspectives, but you should leave it up to players to share their ideas. Staff are so determined to defend their pride and content, I'm not saying all staff act this way. But certain mods try so hard to tell players why they did something a certain way, even though it's likely that the player already understands that.

 

kinda feel this is all hypocritical, your saying the mods should be open-minded, which they are, but then saying they shouldnt defend themselves, and that the players are correct? Looks to me the players are the ones not being open-minded.

 

Alright guys I feel like we're straying from the topic here.

 

I personally found the hints so confusing that I waited for the pictures (except for 3 and 6 where I knew what the hint was in round 3, and someone told me it was in hive in round 6). I also blame my broken mouse. Hopefully we can get more opportunities to make items (or I can apply for GM). I didnt play rounds 1 and 4.

 

Alright so for the next event that I plan on doing, I'll try to make the hints more clear and it more organised. Again I am so sorry this is my first time doing something like this and I am really hoping I can improve with your feedback. The servers I can see what I can do but I doubt that we could get a giant event server, but I will look into it.

 

I'm saying the mods are open-minded, and I'm saying that they shouldn't try so hard to explain themselves. If the fanbase disagrees then that is the result of something that didn't turn out well. I'm saying a mod doesn't need to explain why things didn't turn out well and defend themselves. All it does is make the players get more irritated. Please fully and throughly read everything I say before you call my statement hypocritical.
