A Perfect Brew

The Difference between this and an average fetch quest:
A fetch quest, you just go, kill mobs, get the stuff.

Here, it's different. Here, you lift a load, helping out the miners, you piss someone off after talking to them, you save a chick, and you find keys for a redhead.

[2/7]James: Uh, adventurer. I need you… like… right now.
[3/7]James: A messenger told me the Duke of Llevigar is hosting an event and that I am in charge of the brew, but, I am bad at brewing! All I know if how to make Olux Swig, which doesn’t even satisfy me!
[4/7]James: And even then, it takes me a long time to brew, I’ll need you to get me ingredients while I work on the brew, that way it’ll be more efficient.
[5/7]James: Now, firstly, I’ll need ingredients. Olux Swig uses swamp dew with river water partially cleaned, but that tastes bad. I don’t even understand how they came up with it.
[6/7]James: Here, we’ll need crystal clear water. The cleanest water is the deepest water. There is a cae just south of here, I’ll need you to go down there. You’ll find a mining colony, ask them to fill up these.

Talk to Garold in the Mining Colony.

[1/4]Garold: Adventurer! What are you doing here? You don’t have a helmet, nor a pickaxe. A weapon isn’t a proper mining tool, you know.
[2/4]Garold: Oh, you need these to be filled up? Well this is nice and refreshing water, I’ll have to fine you. Oh, and not with emeralds, I mean with work.
[3/4]Garold: Say, we have a heavy load that we need brought up. Since you are stronger than most of the men here, why don’t you help us?
[4/4]Garold: I’ll pay you and extra two emerald blocks, by the way. Just go to the pulley press the button to equip the ropes and climb up.

Press the button, You will be teleported to a mirror version of the cave but you can’t go to the sides, just upwards. You get slowness 3 and this text pops up as you walk:

Miner: 10 emeralds he’ll slip.
Miner: 10? I’m betting 15.
Miner: Alright. 20 emeralds of he slips. Deal?
Miner: Deal.
Miner: I can’t believe it! He’s almost done! It would take me hours to go that far so fast.
Miner: Where’s my 20 emeralds?

Once you get to the top of the cave/pulled the pull far enough you get teleported back to the cave. Talk to Garold.

[2/2]Garold: James? Oh, he’s an old friend. Anyhow, here ya go. An extra emerald block.

[1/5]James: Finally, we need to be faster, alright?
[2/5]James: I don’t want this to end badly, especially since this is for the king.
[3/5]James: Now I need you to get me some sugar. The best sugar ‘round here is at Ron’s Cane Farm.
[4/5]James: It is north of here, just follow the river. And I need 5 of them.
[5/5]James: Also, remember that Ron isn’t a happy type, he might be angry at first. Maybe bring 48 emeralds to keep him calm?


Go down the river and talk to Ron by his cane farm. If you go to Ron’s farm before or after this stage, an aggressive mob spawns called “Ron” who has 100 Health and deals 20 damage, holding a crossbow and shoots 10 blocks distance. Also, when you go on his property and are on this stage, you are teleported to a copynpaste version where he is an NPC, and you are teleported back to the main map when leaving his porch.

[3/5]Ron: I uhh… would like to feel them… what do I need to give to get my hands on them?
[4/5]Ron: Sugar Canes? Yeah, here, take 5. Do you got any more for me? No?
[5/5]Ron: Ok, then get out before I get my cross bow!

[2/4]James: While I do that, can you get me some mushrooms to get yeast. You could find some in the shadowy forest patches around the Llevigar Plains. 6 sounds like a hot number.
[3/4]James: Be careful though, the spiders there are scary, I mean, is it a bad thing they spook me?
[4/4]James: Also, my older sister went there, and said she’ll be back in 20 minutes, she was there for an hour. Can you help her out, if she got stuck? She is an unsteady adventurer, always gets into some sort of trouble...


Go into the forest patches and harvest some “dark mushrooms”. The mushrooms are in a distinct spot in the forest closest to Bucie, and when you get close, this goes down:

[2/2]Cassy: I got stuck in this web, and can’t get out!


Now just shoot her out of the bed, she has 387583457987 health and 94859347 fire defense, she won’t die from anything. Once she is out of the web, this text pops up:

[1/1]Cassy: Alright, thanks! My foot got all tangles, and couldn’t get out of that web! Here, take these, I better be going back to Bucie.

She instantly disappears to never be seen by the player again. Talk back to James.

[1/4]James: Your back! I must say thank you for helping Cassy, she was getting something for a scientist in Cinfras. She’s gone now, but she told me you helped her. Thank you, once again.
[2/4]James: And you’ve managed to get the mushrooms also! Impressive.
[3/4]James: Now I’ll need you to get me one more thing. There is a lumberjack who lives across the river. I thought that Bright Wood from the Light Forest tasted good in tea, why don’t we add it to our brew?
[4/4]James: His name is Karid, and he lives right by the army camp outside the orc fortress. I always wondered what they were doing in there.


Talk to Karid.

[1/4]Karid: What is it you want? Bright wood? Oh yeah, I got tons.
[2/4]Karid: I store it in my basement though, so that it doesn’t get all soggy when it rains.
[3/4]Karid: And to be completely honest, I have no Idea where I left my keys. Go ahead and search for them, as long as you give them to me.
[4/4]Karid: All I know for certain is that it is in my house… somewhere….


Search the house, and it’s kinda like that mansion in Nemract. Go inside, press a button, race to a door that opens, which is like a control room for unlocking doors, but it’s timed. A sign says “Upper Floor”. Press a button under it and then the door leading to the stairs opens for a minute. Go there and then go to the first room, put an emerald on a pressure pad to open another room which has an opening to the attic. There are 4 openings, 1 is locked. Go to the third opening and press a button to open the 4th opening where the key is.


Now, get the key and open the basement, same way you open the room inside the ??? Meteor. Now, get 1 Bright Wood Log and bring the keys to Karid.

[2/2]Karid: How in the world did they get, of all places, there?

Now bring the logs to James.

[1/2]James: Fantastic! All I need now is to dice the log, somehow, and then put the parts into the brews!

Karid Before:
[1/1] Karid: Hey, have you seen my keys? I don't know where I put 'em.

Karid After:
[1/1] Karid: Oh hey, you again! Thanks for finding my keys for me.

[1/1] James: Thanks for helping! How'd you like the drink?

 

What if I talk to them after they have finished their dialogue, what do they say? Also you should put 1/14 ir something for every message

 

Because I'll do that if I get enough support. Why should I put twice the work if it doesnt add much to the thread, and not enough people like it?

 

Is Olux Ale actually a thing? I might be wrong, but I thought there was only Olux Swig. I know there's Llevigar Ale, but I've never seen Olux Ale. Unless you're just inventing a new drink, which would be fine, I guess.

Anyways, this looks like a pretty good quest. :)

 

Really, you're trying to save yourself the effort but productivity is slow. If you that your suggestion will appeal to the audience, why bother at all? Just throw it in, you've come this far. You won't get much support without it.

 

Idek, I just tried getting an idea, cuz llevigar Ale would sound so bad.

And inventing a new drink wouldnt harm anyone, would it?

Okay, now reread it a bit. There are a few mistakes you could refine. Also, which king asked James to do the brew? As far as I know, Gavel doesn't have a king, unless I'm wrong.

Other than that, great suggestion! A good combination of puzzle, but it's a bit fetchy.

 

Change 'Olux Ale' to 'Swamp Grog'.
Sounds better since we already have a Llevigar Ale and Olux Swig.

Well I do see (a huge, just a few name changes) to cooks assistant (level 4) there are a few things that would be great in a quest. Like the part in the cave, where you have to carry a load down a cave where you have to go a basic job you excel at to get something...(mage heal and rush) with workers betting.

Also, I don't really want another nemracts mansion XD. man that was cancer for me.
