I look at him dead straight. "I've learned on the streets that if I ever try to plan something ahead for the future, it all gets taken away from me."

 

"Bro, that kinda sucks," Jesper says.

Kaz waves his hand dismissively. "My experience has taught me otherwise. All you need is a good reliable crew and a brain."

Kayla watches as Aquila snaps her fingers teleporting them to a place not accessible by normal means. A temple in the Sky Islands was their destination. Kayla found herself barely able to stand, both legs wobbling, her chest aching, most of the pain being on the left shoulder. She leaned against a pillar, for support to stand up, while trying to ignore the tremendous pain in her body. Aquila looks saddened, and tries to go over to her to help but before she can, a robed figure appears in her way. Cornix.

"Hello Aquila," Cornix smirks.

"..Go away Crow.." Aquila snaps a miniature Aurora Borealis forming at her feet. Aquila wears an annoyed expression on her face. However, the fear in her eyes betrays her.

Cornix looks at her, smiling, his height giving him the advantage in the stare down. "Why, I just came here to see how well you're doing right now." He then looks at Kayla. "But it seems your girl is in more trouble than you right now." He then licks his lips, a fake worried expression coming onto his face. "Would be . . . such a shame if you aren't able to . . . heal her back up to full health before something bad happens..."

Suddenly, a stabbing pain in Kayla's chest sends her knees buckling and her falling down to one knee, shaking.

"..Leave us now..!" Aquila yells an icicle forming and flying straight at Cornix's chest. He however just forms a shield, blocking the icicle.

"You know . . ." Crow's smile somehow gets bigger. "What if I moved out of the icicle's path?" He then looks back at Kayla who now is holding onto the pole with one hand and shakily on one of her knees. "That icicle would've run straight into your beloved dear's heart."

Aquila stands there shaking with anger. "..How did you even get titled the name of 'Guardian Angel'? You don't deserve it..!"

Cornix smile gets EVEN bigger. "A lot of people don't deserve the titles and privileges that they have. But who said the world is fair?" He smirks. "Definitely not me."

"You . . . monster!" Aquila cries.

Cornix snaps his fingers and Kayla's body goes limp falling onto the floor. "You're weak Aquila... So, so weak... You'll never be above me, stronger than me. That Caillte boy was wrong. You'll never have the courage or strength to laugh at me in the face Aquila. Never."

And with that, he vanishes into a heap of smoke leaving a now crying Aquila standing there shaking, fists clenched.

The scene fades away.

On one hand, I kind of like these kinds of posts. Let’s you know more... details about the various NPC’s.

On the other hand, it’s their choice, and having to write something they don’t exactly feel like doing could affect the output.
