None of this was sparked by any individual person, even partially. It was when we looked at the community as a whole and saw what we felt like was needed to be addressed. I would like to think most people here don't start arguments with ill intent, but with increasing frequency, they've been morphing into things much more negative, especially towards staff. But don't worry about it, there's nothing to apologize for.

 

I think this is really something that the community needs now, we are being rude and disrespectful to mods and all of the staff and you are right to say that. We even got selvut mad enough to threaten to end the gale lore, which was all because people were being ignorant and not obeying the rules. We don't deserve to have all the work you guys do for us because we have given you no reason to do anything for us because all we really do is complain that updates don't come fast enough or the mods and/or gms did something wrong or should do more, neither of which they need to improve on. The gm team and moderator team do very good work in my opinion. Just today I saw @InvertedReaper trying to find hackers. Even that proves that the mods and gms do very good work and do their best to keep this game going and make it a fun and fair place to have fun.


So I guess all I can say is thank you staff for all of your hard work and time you put into this!

 

I think it is good that this is being addressed, I see now why some people are chosen over others, and I think having Community Managers would be really good.

 

We're hoping that by giving a better insight into the duties of a mod and the process by which mods are selected, there'll be less unrest and distrust between the mod team and the community at large. A different viewing angle on a situation can change a lot more than you think :)

It will change much if we can change it and know about it.

If something is happening and we don't know about it it is also up to the players to report it and let us know. We are going to be working on communicating more, which is why we have a community manager now. But communication is a two way street and both sides need to participate.

So yes, it will change things if we allow it to change things.

Keep in mind this is a joke and I actually do understand the point you're trying to make.

 

Some enjoy their privacy usually the ones that do keep to themselves and work behind the scenes. As was stated in the doc some mods are better at doing some tasks than others.

It's nice to see this addressed - so many internet communities fall into this sort of thing. Moderators really do a lot more than it seems. Also, a lottttt of the mod hate I've seen seems to come from moderators not being active enough, so here's a pile of shitty excuses from yours truly:

• I helped moderate the /r/homestuck discord for like... 6 months. It's basically just pure shitposting there.
• I have like... 4 different discord chats I stay moderately active in? It feels weird suddenly leaving to go do stuff because oh god what if I miss a good shitpost.
• Personal life has been pretty stressful lately too. Moved in June, school coming up (and, yes, at a new school), being an edgy teen and not wanting actual responsibility (gasp!), and some other stuff with the family.

Yeah I know they're kinda weak, but whatever. Also, a lot of people say that I'm the best mod - I'll straight up tell you, that isn't very true. I basically just shitpost on my profile, and not nearly as much moderating as I should do. Remember, being a cool kid =/= actually doing the things they should do.

 

I know the feeling of going to new schools.
