    This is useless as it already states North West East and South on the coordinates over the player's hotbar

    Yeah, but the only time it isn't visible is when your special powder thingy bar is visible, in that cause you'll have to use the actual minecraft coords.

    A compass rose particle effect would be cool, but would it work?
    Can you make the particles point nsew even when the player turns?
    If not, make a spinning compass rose, and boom, new particle effect.
