To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Alexander Hamilton: An American Musical. The hidden genius in the lyrics in the songs is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory and rap most of the songs will go over a typical audience goer's head. There's also Burr's cautious outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterization - his personal philosophy draws heavily from other works of art, for instance the story of Icarus. The true fans understand this hidden beauty; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these songs, to realise that they're not just beautiful; that they say something deep about LIFE as a whole. As a consequence, people who dislike Alexander Hamilton: An Amrican Musical truly ARE idiots. Of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the passion in Alex's existential catchphrase “I will not throw away my shot!”, which itself is a cryptic forshadow to how throwing away his shot was the cause of Hamilton's death as well as acting as his mantra throughout life. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Lin-Manuel Miranda’s genius wit unfolds itself on the Broadway stage. What fools... how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, I DO have a Hercules Mulligan tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the true fans' eyes only - and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin' personal kid.
