Short answer: we'd probably never evolve on another planet.
Long answer: In order for that to happen, we would need carbon-based trees, fruit, and mammals to evolve, and we'd need a primate to evolve, find fire, use fire, cook with fire, develop larger brains because of the cooked meats instead of stronger legs, or bodies, or whatnot, and even if that ALL happens, it's still likely that we wouldn't look like we do today, as certain traits (our chin jutting out, being able to process alcohol) wouldn't develop easily. Then, we'd need them to develop space travel, somehow survive at least 4 light-years, and most definitely more than that (since proxima centauri doesn't have a habitable planet or moon that we know of), while somehow losing the ability to use advanced tools along the way, then landing on a planet that JUST SO HAPPENS to have similar enough species to breed with. Suffice to say, although it's fun to think about, it's highly unlikely. We evolved specifically because of the conditions of our planet, and it's nigh impossible that another planet would evolve in the same way. Hell, even among the planets and moons we think of as most likely to produce life, the majority of them (Europa, Enceladus, and some of the trappist planets) are likely to be oceanic worlds, or just a hellish nightmare in the case of the last few (assuming they're tidally locked to their host star, it would literally always be twilight in the thin band of habitability, and there would constantly be a huge storm raging as hot air rushes from the star-facing side to the side in eternal darkness.).
Also, if we did evolve on the other planet, what happened to them? Because if something happened to them to make them stop communicating, then they're probably dead, or left us for dead, which begs the question of why? Assuming we actually know about all of this, there are two scenarios. If it's scenario 1 (they're dead), then finding them should be the top priority. We need to find out what killed them in order to avoid it ourselves. If it's scenario 2, (we're going to die), then finding them is even more important, and finding what's going to kill us should be the top priority of everyone. Either way, it's highly probable, given that we're humans, that mass paranoia will ensue because of this lack of communication; each country will probably become isolationist, and increasingly erratic, as they no longer know who to trust. Alliances and trade will likely take a hit as no countries are willing to trust each other. Historically pacifist and neutral countries will become middlemen and mediators, and will likely grow rich as a result. Sciences will likely become a top priority, especially in the space, biology, and climate sectors, since climate change, mass pandemics or asteroid impacts will be the most likely ways for us to die. Military spending would also increase a lot, as deterrence of any invasion, manmade or otherwise, becomes a priority. Nuclear arsenals would likely expand, as a last resort. People would likely cluster around strongmen who promise safety, and conspiracy theories would also become widespread. So yeah, not very fun. This was your surprisingly depressing post of the day.
