World 1.9 Integration Ideas

This may already be a post by someone out there and I'm sure that this is already a thing, but I'd like to attempt my view on how Wynncraft can benefit from Minecraft 1.9. Wynncraft is already a huge server network, and some things from Minecraft 1.9 can improve this network (my personal opinion).

Shields:
Minecraft 1.9 allows the usage of Shields, so I was thinking that Wynncraft could incorporate a Shied of some sort, that will deflect damage and be compatible with the elemental damages. Another feature that could be covered by Shields is a potential decoration that can be placed upon the Shield according to different things such as the Guild you are in or a general logo made by the Wynncraft team.

New Arrow Types:
I will not include the new arrow types due to the elemental system already in place, and also due to the fact that Archers don't need an arrow in their inventory to shoot. This would be a waste of time.

New Block Types:
These new block types are for the Building Team to find a way to design builds or new Realms with these to create an even better experience for the player. I do not have any suggestions, so I will leave it up to them.

New Combat Mechanics:
Due to the new combat mechanics with different item types, Wynncraft can switch the attack speeds through the already-implemented Minecraft 1.9 features. Also, instead of using blocks and other miscellaneous items for weaponry, Wynncraft can switch back to the Shovels and other original tools that were used previously, which brings me to my next point.

Item NBT Data:
Now, through Minecraft 1.9, with the help of a resource-pack, players are able to re-skin the same items with different NBT tags and modify their stats. This will not only make the blocks proper instead of weapon models, but it will also make the creation of these easier and more organized.

minecraft:iron_shovel (NBT tags: 2) = Scythe | With Scythe Model

ADDED AS OF 4/6:

Boats:
Simply, boats. The new Minecraft 1.9 boats are simply amazing. They allow multi-entity travelling and are significantly faster.

Lingering Potion Effects:
For Minecraft 1.9, the new Lingering Potion was added. These could definitely be used for new spells that cast an effect radius easily. They could heal players, or potentially damage mobs. Simple concept, but versatile functions.

If you're saying that the amount of NBT tags decides the Model, it may be rather difficult, since the normal items already use several NBT tags

 

Also you can calculate it on the durability of a item. So a diamond shovel or something has over a thousand durability, thus over a thousand models..

Another thing we need is...... BOATS! the 1.9 boats can allow two players, or a Vip pet. This allows a team of players to travel the seas, at faster speeds! WOOP! You can also bring your squiggles along. Along with that the models are just more appealing

 

Actually, no. To be honest the 1.9 attack speed sucks. A lot. It's actually pretty terrible as it allows you to hit while it's cooling down- an accidental click would immediately bring it down. Not the 1.9 attack speed. I'd elaborate but I also have to talk about the textures.
The NBT Tag durability works this way because of durability. Each 1.9 unique texture is durability based and there is no way to change the durability bar to be transparent- You'd have a durability bar on your weapon at all times. Sucks much?

 

I love what you did here because it gives me pointers on may or may not work, but it can also let me explain a little bit more. The attack speeds can be changed and modified though both Vanilla Minecraft and plugins in the new Minecraft 1.9 Update. If they do not want to implement this idea, a few lines of code can remove the attack speed in all and they can keep their system. Also, as far as the durability bar goes, you can just make the item 'Unbreakable' and the bar will go away. Yes, under the lore it will say 'Unbreakable', but it can work.
