Conquest reforged, look it up

As for my opinion on the new textures, I did a quick search and looked at them so far, and to be honest I'm fine with them. People are complaining about the blur but imo that isn't a problem as long as the blocks blend together well, and the stigma toward obsidian is unfounded, the previous texture was ugly af, and now it's more representative of the actual mineral and is way more useful in building. As someone who does a lot of building I can see that when completed this might even be a texture pack I would use. Tbh the old textures were bad for building, and I changed to using conquest or BdoubleO for building with, if this texture get's me away from using others (ofc I won't leave Conquest I'm not stupid) for vanilla building then I'm down for it, I guess we'll see when the update comes out :P

That's not the point, Minecraft is a sandbox game based around building beautiful structures. Buildings are the basis of every popular server and even single player. Saying that obsidian looks weak is irrelevant, the idea is that it would work as a good building material rather than being deemed as a terrible block only useful for nether portals.

Come on, when was the last time u use obsidian.

Also bedrock is the strongest material in the game :P

That wouldn't have looked good, the texture contrasts to greatly with that of stone.

Obsidian isn't everything-proof, you can break it with a diamond pick, and with ur fists if u can be bothered to endure the time it would take. It can also be destroyed by TNT with relative ease, I don't see the necessity for it to look strong when it really isn't.

It isn't invulnerable, if u pummel it enough then the obsidian will break

 

It is. Obsidian has one of the highest blast resistance, and it is invulnerable to any kind of explosions and is immoveable. Just take the ender crystals as an example: the pillars are made of obsidian and the end crystal has a far better explosion power than a regular TNT, and still it doesn't break

If you saw obsidian breaking to TNT you were probably playing on a faction server

I don't think the textures look that bad, and to everyone who says they don't fit with other current textures, well, they're changing all the textures. So, if one guy does it with the same style, they should all fit reasonably well. I personally don't like the current textures, and am using a texture pack (Jekhoba's Fantasy if you're interested, I didn't make it so I don't think it's advertising) which I personally think looks a lot better, and has the added ... thing of having changed item names (stone sword is stone dagger, diamond is crystal, etc).

Also, obsidian is not actually that strong a material irl. It's brittle and snaps quite easily.
