Wait for 1.14; apparently they're doing a giant fucking 1.8esque mega update.

 

I like the new Textures, but it might be a little bit strange when playing for the first time xD

 

are you serious why would they give up

 

1 mob... too few, if they were 3, ok but i did like mobs that only spawn in caves THAT ARENT IN ANY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD

I bet someone is going to come out with a Resource pack that looks like the current re-textured Minecraft.
And it'll turn out that Minecraft just lazily copied their shitty resource pack.

 

I actually really like the textures I've seen remade so far, especially the mobs and obsidian. Obsidian could actually be used for building more often now! :D

 

yeah, but there is a missing point here:
Obsidian is the 2nd most resistant minecraft block behind the bedrock
the new texture looks like a really cool ore but it looks weak af
you know what im trying to say, it looks cooler with the new texture but it doesnt fit the obsidian block because the old one yeah its not that cool but at least it looks pretty op when it comes to building, unlike the new one
some of the retextures look awesome but they dont fit
so yeah, in general, the main problem is that they are reworking a symbol of minecraft which is its default texture pack, changing such a thing like that can equal to completely changing a main charm of the game
if they were reworking for example the caves, it would be ok, caves do need a rework/update anyways
if they were reworking the AI, same because lets admit it, mobs are way too simple

 

lulz if y'all dont like them just make a new resource pack with the old stuff, it's not that hard. (and maybe keep the ones that look cool, the diamond one actually looks pretty imo)

Also, a sincere fuck off to those saying "minecraft is ruined", i keep seeing that sentence all over the place after every single update. I hate this fandom.

 

I personally wouldn't mind a new texture overall if that's their intent. The HD I can do without, unless they intend to force shaderpacks and make the cubes rounded when not connected to blocks? I don't know.

What I can say is that the version we're playing on is mostly just a test dummy for Pocket and Windows versions. Their goal is to eventually have a game that can be accessed from the gaming triad of mobile, console, and PC, without inconsistency. That would probably mean things like Wynn would be playable on a phone someday(oh god please don't do this Jumla)

If there aren't half slabs for dirt and paths, though, I might be peeved. Been holding out for that since 2013.

We still have to install mods on our own and i'm pretty sure it takes longer than setting a texture pack.

You cant expect every single update to be something innovative.

a lot of the ingame textures were made by different people (notch, jeb...) and they had different artistic styles. they didn't blend together
a blatant example is if you look at the golden apple texture, then the carrot texture
or why would the diamond and gold block be ugly while the emerald block have a cool pattern

I think this kind of make sense, and remember: there's not only one person working on MC, this guy is just doing textures on his own. Dinnerbone, jeb and the whole team can still work on their things
it's not like they don't have money, minecraft: kid scamming edition is giving them so much

still, i think there are things that are calling for a rework more than the texture pack
its alright if they redesign it but the problem is that is not the thing that needs it the most right now

which is why they hired one dude to do that on his own, and he's a cool dude since at least he shares his work on twitter and gets feedback to improve it, they could've just released the new textures without saying anything

 

Apparently they're doing a huge update for 1.14, and they were just testing smaller updates, which is why 1.10, 1.11, 1.12 and 1.13 were/are so small compared to 1.4, 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9

 

Can't wait for the original block design texture pack!!!
