    Main reason: figured I'd try something new haha.

    The concept is to encourage people to bid the maximum they would happily pay for it, knowing they will not get a second chance to "one up" anyone.

    ------------

    Anyways lying wouldn't really achieve anything considering all bids are kept private. If I were to try "running up" other bidders it would no longer be a "silent auction".
