Canyon Guides can basically be described as:

I checked its YML.

It deals 2-5 damage. *1.2 since Mage has less defense, we get 2.4-6, or rounded as the game does for damage, 2-6. You have at least 18 health by that point, and since you don't need mana for anything BUT heal at that point, its high cost is negligible.

The only reason I beat it was because I kept it in water for so long and that was pretty lucky.

And the one time I was hit it was 13 damage. If I healed, I couldn't of sprinted away and would of died.

 

It was nerfed in the Gameplay update to actually reflect how the boss should've been in terms of strength by Salted. Even then, I never died to the thing before, so...
