"Survival instincts."
Marcus responded, readying for battle.

 

(When Rathius de-transforms, which he can do anytime he want, but that would weaken himself for a few minutes because he used up a lot of energy. Him weakening isn't that bad, he can fight, but not as well than before.)


Rathius's claws cut against the grey dragon's scale, managing to cut through and made blood splatter out. Even its blood was a greyish colour. The copy roared in pain and staggered back, releasing a blast of fire. Rathius lowered his head, folded his wings tight and tensed his body, fighting against the heat.

Juhel didn't answer to Kayde's question; he just shrugged. Kayde defended against his own copy's attacks, then shouted to Carol and Rathius.

"They can still kill you if you are distracted, or by a stroke of luck! Take caution!"

Carol nodded back, as she and her copy started circling each other with their swords. Rathius growled in return, keeping his eyes on the grey dragon, which seemed to be crippled for a few seconds.

The elf was approaching Archibaud, her hands setting ablaze with fire. She still didn't seem to notice that the scythe had disappeared behind her; she seemed convinced that Archibaud was unarmed.

The flames do not glow; however they waver, and make the shadows cast move as well. Angela heard something drop to the ground with a thump, and she saw Alice's body slowly sliding down as the shadows moved.

"....!" Elenor lifted an arm towards the half-elf girl, and the shadow seemed to solidify again, stopping her from sliding down.

 

"Got a chance." He thinks, "I need to make it count."

He rushes over towards Kayde and lets out a loud roar. Once he's close enough he breaths fire at Kayde's copy. Eating him might be dangerous because of the sword.

 

About 2 second before the scythe reappears in my hand I start charging at the elf trying to get her off guard

 

I take a piece out of my leather armour with a simple Fula, making the wind carry it to a torch and light it up.

 

Sorry. I was planning to reply last night, but my wi-fi and data went out in my region for like two hours, until it revived when the date changed.

Multiple large shields appeared in front of the blond man; and all around him spread out all kinds of weapons— spears, maces, spiked balls— numbering well over two hundred.

"......Mr. hunter, I think you should stand back for this. I won't be able to shield you if anything goes your way as you attack."

She spread her hands to the side, and wind started to circle her body. Trails of fire and crystals of ice started to form in the air as well, and the ground around her shook as stone spikes rose around her.

"As I named myself a while back. Roswaal M. Mathers, Kingdom's First Magic Caster."

".....Rikuld Mammon Kavenhaitos, Cardinal Sin of the Witch's Order, representing «Greed»."

.....And watching from the back out of range, was the long-haired doctor, wearing an amused look.

The copy of Kayde lifted his tower shield up; he crouched down, covering himself completely, and he seemed to avoid the fire. From behind the shield, an ice crystal shot towards Rathius's face, hitting the scales under his eyes. Growling in pain, Rathius lowered his head as more ice crystals shot towards his eyes.

Kayde kicked off the ground towards his copy, hitting it with his shield. The copy lost balance and fell to the side, but rolled away from Kayde as he thrust his sword down.

Rathius roared in pain and attacked Kayde's copy— before a sharp pain rose from his right abdomen.

Rathius's own copy— now in its human form with the knife that he had received from his mother; had slashed at his scales, managing to cut through.

The elf widened her eyes, and after a split second of hesitation, met Archibaud head on with extremely quick movements and her flaming fists shot at Archibaud.

The torch lit up and the shadows shifted again, and Alice ended up on the floor. Angela heard the sliver-haired girl groan.

Angela felt the wind behind her tense; turning, her short sword met with the woman's knife. They both jumped back, Elenor glaring at Angela.

 

"What the hell?!"
Rathius turns back around to face his copy and slashes at him.
If his copy tries to lift his shield, he'll use the opportunity to knock the copy down and maybe crush it with its own shield.

 

I jump to the side and try to get to her back

 

I go in her direction, adding some wind magic to my slashes to make them more powerful

 

Marcus hastily made his way back, heading straight for the doctor.

 

The copy lifted its shield; Rathius put on its full weight through its front leg on the copy in human form, crushing it slowly.

A flash of light; faster than Rathius could react, a sword hit against Rathius's scales, not breaking through it but hitting it so hard Rathius felt his bone crack. Giving a pained roar, Rathius released a wall of fire downwards, where Carol's copy was standing. It grabbed Rathius's mirror and threw him away; the leapt up, dodging the fire. It spun through the air and the sword reached to Rathius's neck–——

The real Carol met her sword with her copy's in the air, sending a shockwave from contact. With unhuman skills Carol shifted mis-air and landed a kick on her copy's abdomen, sending it flying back.

Carol landed beside Rathius and Kayde. "That's the first time I've landed a blow." She said, panting. She looked up to Rathius. "Are you ok, Rathius?"

The three copies were getting up and lining up in front of the three of them, in a way they were shielding Juhel.

"....! I get it...." Kayde suddenly spoke up. He turned to Rathius and Carol. "We can't beat them straight on; we'll end up exhausting ourselves endlessly. We are equal in every aspect; our key to winning will be finding something different from us to them that we can use against them." He pointed at Juhel, who lowered his chin and glared back. "The copies have to defend the ability user no matter what. We have nothing to lose. That is our difference."

The elf turned, keeping up with Archibaud's speed, and released her punch. Archbiaud lifted his hands in time the punch made contact and fire exploded.

Feeling his skin burn on his palms, Archibaud faced the elf while crouching. She's an elf...! Even when you are in best condition, she would still be able to keep up to you!

«Greed», Kavenhaitos, dropped his hand and weapons shot at Roswaal individually at different timings, so that Roswaal couldn't deflect them all at once and so that she had to deal with them constantly. Roswaal's four-element magic sh0t around, blocking her from the oncoming attacks, but it seemed the magic caster was unable to take an offensive move.

Kavenhaitos laughed. "This is the weakness of all magic casters; their real body is defenseless, and they depend on their own mana! If I keep pressuring you, you will run out of mana!"

Roswaal did not reply; she stood slightly bend forward as she repelled Kavenhaitos's attacks with magic.


As Marcus approached him, the doctor raised an eyebrow, making no attempt to move at all. "What is it, hunter?"

 

I run back and try to find some place to hide while i wait for the scythe to reappear

 

Elenor crouched, then she produced a few throwing knives out of her cloak, shooting at Angela. She deflected them with wind magic; but instead of clattering onto the ground, they sank into it. In the next moment, Angela felt her radar detect the throwing knives from all directions, at a much-faster speed than it had before it sank into the ground. It seemed that her little tornado was not enough to stop the attack.

You can re-summon your scythe at any time you want. It doesn't have much of a cooling time.

 

Then i wait for the elf to come to me and summon the scythe as soon as i can reach her with it

 

The elf widened her eyes in surprise when she saw the scythe, then started to step back from Archibaud.

 

"Nice stunt you pulled, jackass."
Marcus moved around the doctor, putting the doctor in between him and the fight.
"Now what? We can't exactly sit around here, can we?"

 

while she's in this split second of shock I start charging her and I'm ready to slice her in half

 

The doctor turned towards the fight, smiling. "Hm? But this is a nice opportunity to find out both of their strength, isn't it? Margrave Roswaal M. Mathers, rumoured to be the strongest magician existing; and an executive member of the long hidden Witch's Cult that had existed only in rumours."

 

"Fine, it's cool, but you won't be able to remember it if your head's off your body."
Marcus scorns.

 

"In that case.."
He shoots a wall of fire towards the copies, slowly moving forward while doing so.
