Marcus decided not to try anything, not with the paunched man around. He kept his stance, using his pelts to conceal his hands.

Archibaud keeps his eyes on the stone before realising something and saying
"Wait fifth? Last I heard there were only 3 candidates"

 

"May I ask where are you from, Lady Alice?" I start, measuring my words to not offend her

Kavenhaitos grinned. "As long as I make profit— whatever goes."

A figure of a man rose behind Kavenhaitos— and something sharp and glinting was flung at his back. The blade shot straight to the blond man's nape—

And with a sharp sound, it was stopped. A knife had appeared behind his neck, the flat of its blade blocking the man's blade. There were murmurs from the crowd. The man then gritted his teeth and swung his blade back and at Kavenhaitos's back, but the knife shot down and blocked the blow.

"Not bad." Kavenhaitos said as he turned, a grin on his face. "Not bad. I like your courage. But—" He raised his palm. "Regret you ever took arms against me."

With cracks half a dozen spears materialised around him, shooting and piercing the man through his body. He was sent back all the way towards the back wall, where the spears struck into the stone and impaled the man. Screams emitted from the crowd; Marcus felt the boy and the girl behind him shiver and tense up. Marcus himself was shocked by the events that happened in front of his eyes.

"Clean it uup, you lot." The balding man rubbed his bulging stomach and called to the guards, who bowed.

"Let us go." Kavenhaitos said amusedly— and the two of them left. The body of the man was removed from the wall and taken out of the room. Now there was despair and fear amongst the people captured.

 

Fanatia bowed and brought sugar for the table; Rathius thanked the maid and put them into his tea.

Carol sighed and looked at Rathius. "You asked what is your part in this. To say the truth, we have no idea. Margrave Roswaal took Lady Alice to the capital to announce her position as a candidtae. But this was completely her decision to bring you into the fray." The knight leaned back. "This is part of the reason I can't really... trust Margrave wholly."

"Carol...." Alice frowned. "I owe Roswaal so much. If we can't trust her, then who?"

"How about me?" A voice sounded— and something materialised on top of Alice's lap. It was a cat— a plain looking cat with black fur and slim body. It narrowed its eyes as it looked up to Alice. Carol bowed in respect to the cat. "Great Spirit."

Alice laughed, stroking the cat's back. "Of course I trust you, Dia."

"Hello, Miss Knight." The cat turned to Carol, then to everyone else. "And to you too, everyone. I am Dia— Alice's contracted spirit. I hope you treat my contractor well." The voice of the cat somewhat sounded like a male's— it was hard to make sure though. The spirit narrowed its eyes at Izanami sitting next to Archibaud.

"Long time no see, Iza." He said, then seeing Izanami make a confused expression, lowered his head in sadness. "You don't remember me, is that so. Then it'll be rude to treat you as an old friend. Let's be friendly as Great Spirits, all right?"

Diabel, after greeting the spirit, turned to Archibaud. "And to your question, honoured Scythe, a new candidate— officially the fourth— was brought in earlier today, in a gathering I didn't attend. The Sword Saint— and my good friend, Alexander van Hestiria, brought the new candidate— Lady Remilia, to the castle."

Alice smiled apologetically at Angela then. "I'm sorry, I can't answer that. It's something we as people from different Camps can't discuss. If I'm not mistaken, aren't you a knight from the Estelle Camp?"

"....was." Angela muttered silently. "I'm surprised you know, Lady."

Alice grinned proudly. "Ehe. I'm studying to become a King, you know?"

"—I'm glaaaad that you are all getting along well." A voice sounded from the doorway— and Roswaal, accompanied by Fanatia (who had left the room in silence), entered the room.

"Roswaal. Welcome back." Alice said, smiling at the woman.

"Thaaaank you, Lady Alice." Roswaal walked over to a chair and sat down in a position where she faced all of them. "Wheeeere's my welcome?"

 

He turns to Roswaal and waves at her.
"Welcome. We got tea."

He then turns back to Alice and leans on the table.
"Hey, Alice, would you mind if I have a look at that coin?"

 

I raise my tea cup and say "Cheers"

 

Marcus continued to be still, shocked at the man's power, but grateful that he didn't try it himself.
He decided to count the number of guards he could see.

 

"Welcome back home Miss Roswal" I look at her and smile, bringing up my cup afterwards "Can we have the honor of you joining us?"

 

My alerts broke, somehow.

I nod a polite greeting, but keep silent for now.

 

"Lady Alice." Carol glared at Rathius and said in a low voice, but Alice shook her head. "No, it's okay. I don't feel bad being called without an honorific. You can call me Alice, too."

Roswaal shrugged. "It's your choice to call her Lady or not if it's with her consent."

Alice handed Rathius the insignia; the glow of the gemstone subsided as soon as it left Alice's hands. The insignia was handed around amongst them all, but it didn't light up at all.

As Carol held the badge, the knight sighed. "If this thing did glow, it would be a big enough trouble for us all. Not five as said in the prophecy, but six...?"

Kayde received it from Carol; then offered it to Roswaal. The margrave shook her head and said, "You've aaaall touched it without care but.... that stone is a remnant ooooof the dragon's gift. I am noooowhere at a place where I can hold it~." At this everyone froze, and all eyes turned to Kayde who was currently holding the insignia.

Alice smiled unsurely. "That's not nice, Roswaal. Don't tease them." The margrave lifted her hands in defence and shrugged. "Aha~, I'm sooorry, Lady Alice. I guess I cooouldn't help myself."

"I don't feel comfortable holding this anymore...." Kayde muttered, holding it out to Alice.

"Oh, by the way, Roswaal, what were you doing when you came late here...." Alice started to ask as she was receiving the insignia. Just then—

With a clink, a small object fell from the ceiling and bounced off the table. It happened so suddenly, all of them looked at it in surprise as it rolled on the table.

It was a crystal— a small magic crystal that were used to hold spells.

"Everyone, duck——!!" Carol screamed, flinging herself in front of Alice.

Two at the doors; four more through the corridor aligned with the barred sighed of the wall. You can't tell if they are armed; their whole body is covered in a long cloak, like the people who had captured him. Marcus remembered that female magic user and the large powerful man who had brought him to the obese man— and wondered if those guards were as strong as them. There was no way to make sure as of now.

I was thinking of doing artworks of Pride and Wrath.... but they haven't came out yet. I'll upload once they come out properly (might be much later on though.)

 

I push the person on my right and duck under the table, hopefully helping the other person as well

 

OOC:Quick question I suck mana from the surrounding area to increase my physical abilities correct? So would I be able to suck the mana out of the crystal before it does anything?
If not I jump back and duck

 

Marcus makes an assessment of the amount of people in the room, seeing if he can approximate just by looking.

 

Rathius ducks and gets under the table. He tries to peek out and see what's happening.

 

He can't say for sure— but about 200 or so. As mentioned before, their age group and gender are completely random— There seem to be only 50-60 or so men who seem to be able to fight to some degree.

 

How is the wall set up on the side with the guards?
Like, what's the placement of stone, bars, windows, or doors?
