Depends on what you consider the central plot to be - you could argue that from a certain perspective, the central plot is whatever plot you're currently engrossed in

What if the main plot is actually whats on the news? Like now, the main plot could be the rising gas prices, or the UK heatwave. That wouldn’t make all of us the main characters.
