Now I have a theory that mooington is a harbringer of corruption, and corrupted skien's island.
Since mooington is a cow, and also salted is a cow, that means they are the same thing. Thus, salted is spreading corruption accross wynn, and should be stopped.
Okay, I got to my computer, lemme write an actual explanation:
Basically, the reason Skien's Island is corrupted is due to the Traitor. They are mentioned a few times in the signs written by Skien, as well as a few other places around the Wynn Province.
From the prison cell in Prison of Souls, we know their name is Sotqin, and that they eventually decided to 'pay old Skien a visit' or something like that (these are on some super old signs that I only discovered like yesterday lol).
The Traitor was originally someone in Skien's army back in Troms who got corrupted and while they were still very recently raised (like you are in AHC Nesaak section), they were able to reach Skien and attack him, crippling his army since the General was attacked.
From the section in Prison of Souls we know that their spirit managed to stick around, but something important to note is that they were corrupted, and as we see in sections like the Corruption Lesson in OotG, corruption can spread anywhere as long as there is something to bring it there, which in this case was the Traitor.
When it went to Skien's island, the corruption came with it, which is why Skien's Island is corrupted. Thank you for coming to my ted talk, or whatever.
