Yeah, I know plenty of people who look at yiff without being furries, those who do get converted into furries through it can sometimes become some of the worst type of people I've encountered in this fandom.
- Forcing furry RPs into public chats and making cute noises (cringy) when speaking in voice calls.
- Asking random people to "yiff" or RP with them whenever they're horny, and have nothing else do talk about other than sex, their character's genitals or previous RPs they had.
- Making coming outs in public about how different they are for being furries and making their sexual fantasies publicly known.
- Getting triggered over literally anything and acting like dark edgy teens whenever they're depressed. Doing anything to get attention.
- Getting an R34 of their character and a fursuit, regardless of quality, are their first priority over anything else.
Also, to make things even more disconcerting these are minors I'm talking about, not 20+ year old grown ups.
"Also, to make things even more disconcerting these are minors I'm talking about, not 20+ year old grown ups."
Well, shit. I haven't thought about that. Though you gotta excuse their behavior at leaast a little, since they're growing up and all the hormones make them go all sex crazy.
Furries just spent SOO MUCH MONEY on furry shit. I'm not sure if it's becouse of the material costs or becouse it just became this way through exclusivity and prestige.
I fall under the category of people who spend at least $100+ per month on commissions, but not from any type of artist, I'm very selective, I'd hate to waste money on a drawing I would later forget or dislike.
The reason why I do so is the same reason why I collected levels on Steam, or posters in my bedroom, it's cosmetic I know but it makes me very happy to do so in the end and in the long term.
I don't find any use in buying pr0n of a character because you can't do much with it afterwards. You can't show it to your friends unless they're also furries, you can't print it out, you can only keep it to yourself unless it's artistic in a way that people can easily look past the sexual details.
Example : I don't get why people would spend $250 on a ref sheet that focuses primarily on their character's nob.
Also furry auctions. People are willing to spend over reasonable prices just to get that one something they really want.
I tried participating in one last week just to get a YCH icon. I went up to $60 which is still a reasonable price considering the quality of the work. Then two people fought over it after me and it was sold for $105 : https://i.imgur.com/4cIJZhO.jpg
It reminds me of that one time I went to a french brony convention in Nantes and someone bought a regular pebble (which for info is named Boulder, in the show's lore it belongs to a character named Maud who treats it as their pet) for 200€ at the charity auction.
At least the money went to charity.
"you can only keep it to yourself unless it's artistic in a way that people can easily look past the sexual details. "
I mean, you could always post it on 4chan or e6. About the artistic aspect, sometimes the pr0n is just such high quality art that I just save it so that I can look at it later purely for the artistic aspects; and some pics are REALLY good.
"Example : I don't get why people would spend $250 on a ref sheet that focuses primarily on their character's nob." Maybe it's for ERP's or stuff like that?
"Also furry auctions. People are willing to spend over reasonable prices just to get that one something they really want." Yeah. The amount of money people can spend on shitty YCH are mind boggiling.

(which for info is named Boulder, in the show's lore it belongs to a character named Maud who treats it as their pet) Yeah, I know plot points of mlp. I watched all Pong Thread Simulators, and if you didn't, YOU SHOULD.
About pr0n drawings, I was a little tired this morning so I forgot to add an important element to my comment, and it follows your answer. In fact I want to change my comment because I missed some importants points.
Now that I think of it again, what I said doesn't reflect what I really think about nsfw art. People are allowed to commission whoever/whatever they want, but just gotta watch out if it's worth the money.
It's a personal opinion, but I don't find any use in commissioning any type of artist with art styles that have nothing incredible to them, unless I wish to support the artist behind the art.
Commissioning cheap nsfw art can also be done as a step forward to give you an idea of what your character looks like, if you want to change anything, so you can be prepared when ordering high tier art later.
Then there's another category where the main focus isn't the art but the concept, the story. An original idea or something you want to try out, regardless of the quality of the art.
But finally it all comes down to personal taste, an artist's style can look awesome to one person, and boring/plain or weird to another.
I'll use this artist as an example : http://shiney.fun/
