I won't argue that but I have my reasons for hating her. It's because she's very hard to play well that it's not as bad as it could be but that doesn't mean that there's no problem
The problem is that in high levels of play, team fights have basically devolved into which team has the better widow. They take out the other widow or get a pick and that will likely dictate the rest of the fight
I made an analogy for this regarding other sports: Say you were playing football professionally, and you have these teams that have complex practice strategies and very strong players. But then they implement a rule that if someone runs really fast from one side of the field to the other, they get 10 points
Eh, I’d say Hanzo is a much bigger problem. He’s the current highest consistent dps. Storm arrow negates the skill requirement he once had. He functions at long range and short, and is meta defining. Widowmaker can be countered with barriers and dive.
When someone does do that, obviously it's very impressive and they are very skilled, but eventually the entire game revolves less around the team play and more around a single player doing something else really really well. It's impressive, but it becomes boring
The same thing happens when a widowmaker just clicks a few heads. It's very cool to see, but it means that a 12 player fight has just been won because one player had a couple seconds of cool mechanics. Look at the Top 10 Plays of Overwatch League, four of them were widow 4Ks
Don't even get me started on Hanzo. His power has destroyed ranked play, and his ability to 1-shot headshot at close range (consistently!!! With the increased arrow speed) is ridiculous, not even mentioning the extra mobility that he didn't need #RemoveLunge
Definitely. “Hey we’re reworking Hanzo” and it’s an insane buff. From F to S tier. Of course Sombra becomes anything of a threat and it’s a national emergency. Widowmaker is definitely an issue, but sadly that’s her ‘thing’ - challenging with a high reward. That’s kind of how I wish a majority of the characters were honestly. The new meta is a massive benefit to her, especially in GM+
I guess it would be cool if every hero was also challenging with a high reward, but there's something called theoretical potential that you can't just *squeeze* into a hero's ability set. There's something about sitting in your back line and clicking 6 heads that no other character can do
also sombra meta was worse than mercy meta prove me wrong
1. Tracer always has been a better flanker
2. There were no real changes to her dps - it was still a waste to pick her in that regard. Literally only her hack was good.
3. Many characters are okay without abilities. It sucked being Winston, Rein, or Tracer, but 2/3 of those have always been meta-centric and deserve some counters.
(Cont)
4. Mercy’s res was dumb. Skilled widow gets a pick? Mercy rez from behind a wall and that’s useless.
5. Sombra requires mechanical and positioning skills. Mercy is just positioning and holding M1 and that’s even a stretch.
6. Mercy out-classes every healer doing much less. It sucks to be an Ana player.
7. Mercy synergizes with everything. Sombra is mostly good if the enemy hides behind a Rein
8. Sombra has easy counters that are purely mechanical and not like counterpicks
9. Mercy meta is ongoing
what sombra meta, she was nerfed so quickly players didnt have to adapt at all
and its not a case of bastion where he was actually statically op, its just that people didnt even have time to learn how to counter her and give proper feedback
(i still blame the ow balance team for doing a horrible job though)
