The formula that makes spicy cheetos hotter the longer you eat is a bad design for general sales, as people eat less so they buy less.
I believe what is happening is the onion powder and flaming hot seasoning are being enhanced the more you eat by the disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate, as these two are major flavor enhancing tools for umami, of which spice is a direct subflavor of.
Simply removing the Disodium guanylate would prevent the reaction with disodium inosinate that's enhancing the flavor, while keeping the original great taste.
