There are a few things that really show this well, we need more.

I mean, look at Undertale. From one view, you're a fallen child fighting off hordes of monsters attempting to kill you and harvest your soul so that they may break free of the prison they were trapped in. On the other, you're a genocidal child murdering everyone they come across and the 'final boss' is there to stop your reign of destruction.
