My mother goes between Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, and Country, then to Pop music.

I'd say the same for all except
Country.

My step dad listens to country all the time and it annoys my mum XD she only listens to "good" country, or well the older country with actual stories

Country knows no bounds.
Half of it talks about doing things like smoking weed and drinking a ton, while the another portion talks about stories of the time aunt Teresa broke up with him and either how he will always love her or trashed her car.
Then the other portion which talks about other stories in general.

But some stories talked about are actually good, like Church Bells (couldn't think of other) and Whisky Lullaby

I will agree every now and then there are a few good ones.
Though most of them are terrible/ I am not a fan of country as much as others.
