Emotions can't be ignored. What you're suggesting is for people to suppress said emotions and have them be bottled up. That is not good. It is never good to suppress those emotions.
I don't quite see what you're getting at. I feel like two different points are being made here... I'm saying that approaching some problems with logic is superior to simply going on an emotion trip through it, and that it's difficult to do due to human nature, but you're saying that emotional suppression is wrong. Your point isn't related to anything I was trying to get at...
I approach situations with a mix of both, depending on the situation. If its a debate, I approach it with cold hard logic, unless something happens to incite an emotive response, and even then, I try to tone it down. I'm normally emotionally extroverted, and am very outspoken about how I feel.
Some people interpret this as me thinking that I'm better than others, when in reality I constantly tell myself otherwise and try to keep my emotions in check. Overall, I guess it really depends on the situation for me.
I guess, in general, I approach with logic, and keep emotion in check.
Logic is the only option for most issues, emotions are a flaw in almost every argument, even in some issues related to emotions.
Emotions serve almost no purpose beyond basic instinct to survive and propagate, beyond that, once we have knowledge, emotions are useless.
Literally.
