It's what I've done. It's not that hard.

I just take pictures on my iPod with the curtains open in daytime.

I still get confusing images when I use my phone. It's not made to be a scanner, after all.

me too. It's much harder to sketch consistently when you can't see shit, so I tend to go through like 15 different things before I settle on one.
