No, really. When I first tried to sign up/log in, it said to use my Yahoo credentials, of which I have none. Do I need to have a Yahoo account to proceed, or can I make my own username and password, and use any email I choose?

I've never used Tumblr. I have no idea if you need Yahoo credentials at all.

I'm not sure why a popular site like Tumblr still uses it. My best guess is that it's an alternative sign-in like how some sites allow you to sign in through Google.

But it isn't the only one, right?

I highly doubt it. I'll check it out and see if there's any other way to sign in.
