Also any recommendations for a starting hero? I'm planning on maining Fizz as either off-lane or mid.

Hm Neil ( @Kawaii__Turtle ) can help you with that

The nice thing is you wont ever be bound to just 1 champ, it even helps to know alot of different ones so you can face them easier. Probably a good idea to start with the less difficult champs aka garen/ashe/master yi/ryze.

If you want fizz then start with Annie, she has a slightly similar play style where your goal isn't always to hit their whole team with your Ultimate, but rather to just eliminate one or two people on their team
Besides that, just try out the people who are on the free rotation each week, and mostly play the people you find really fun, even if you're not good at them. Enjoying yourself>doing well
