It's even worse even where I live, in the Netherlands.
I live in a province where we speak a dialect that.. is kind of inbetween Dutch and German, but different enough from both that it can't be translated by either language.
So to speak Dutch is like speaking a second language too!
Well, no. I'm fluent in Dutch. They'd make you speak Dutch in school and most formal situations. Not everyone that lives here speaks the dialect either.
I don't think I'm doing bad at speaking English either, at all.
Sometimes, I might forget a word here and there, but we even have those problems in our own language, don't we?
And those translations would be put in the game? Or are they just to be looked up on the forum? Because, the latter kind of defeats the purpose, in my opinion. If you have so much trouble with the English language, you're not going to find that thread.
Acer78 made a program to host the translations, so you don't have to look them up in the browser. It is unfinished, and I don't know if Dutch is added, but it's always worth a look into it !
Most people from the Netherlands won't have a problem with the English, but Wynncraft does seem to attract a LOT of younger players. I'll ask Ace tomorrow - or maybe you could contact him, I don't know if y'all are in some skype chat together or something - and see what I can do to contribute!
Yeah.... well, I had a problem with erhm. Well, this is not really the place to talk about it , anyway.
But so far, the distraction Wynncraft has provided me with has helped me tremendously.
Yeah. Plenty of problems to be had, haha.
But, yeah. So far, I'm really enjoying wynncraft.
I've had some problems with the community at the forum at first, to be honest. Still do, here and there. Including some of the rules, which to me - they don't really make sense. Just some of them.
But it seems we're all getting along much better now. Hehe.
It's the rule that goes before this one I mainly have a problem with:
Keep personal beliefs to yourself - please don't practice religious beliefs on the forum, additionally please don't talk about: guns, sexual orientation, extremist groups and sexual violence.
I mean, I do know that talking about politics or religion can cause problems more often than not.
But sexual orientation? I've seen the word "faggot" come across the forum so many times now and people act like that's just okay.
Fibunny publically states her sexuality and beliefs in her signature - and there was talk about veganism earlier today in the shoutbox. So that is a bit confusing.
But I especially hate that the rule is written as if we may, under no circumstances, discuss sexual orientation, for example. Kind of like the old "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy in America's army.
The way I see it, if somebody makes a problem about somebody's sexual orientation - THAT - person is wrong.
And opressing others to keep quiet about it because otherwise a problem MIGHT arise is just not-done. It's wrong.
I've noticed that, yeah. But that won't stop me from speaking my mind. I already know it'll get me in trouble.
But there's no progress without struggle.
What I meant was more along the lines of:
Sometimes, you have to be the bad guy - the boogyman - for things to get better. To out the opinion that everyone has but nobody dares share.
I can be an asshole sometimes.
Sometimes using slightly controversial ways to get the message across.
But the ends usually justify the means, if all goes well.
I catch some hate, but that's fine if it gets the job done.
