Can someone please describe Homestuck? I'm so confused. Is it a game? Is it a book? what

Homestuck is a web-comic, literally, since it uses flash- and other web-elements to tell its story, which is currently almost 10000 pages long.
It is known for being kinda confusing at some points, but lifting those mysteries later, and overall, I'd say it is one of the best stories to be told out there.
