I was in shock, but I liked that they sacrificed some aspects for a better story.

Same. I was glad they weren't afraid of (uh spoiler alert if anyone else reading this hasn't watched it) killing a few characters.

It was pretty fuckin ballsy in my opinion and I loved it.

A lot of writers/directors etc are afraid of doing it because they believe by doing so some viewers/readers might just stop enjoying it.

Exactly! but it would become more interesting and crazy.
