Issue is it was in violation of the rules...the content of the thread did not matter, it could have been the written cure for cancer but it still broke the rules.
@Selvut283 While I do agree that the tone of the whole thing wasn't exactly positive, I don't really see how it broke any rules. Also, even if it did, don't you tell someone that their thread is breaking a rule and give them the chance to change it to conform to them rather than outright shutting it down?
"6. No airing dirty laundry
(if you don’t like someone, don’t spread it everywhere, take it to a PM or contact a Moderator about the issue.)"
"9. Do not spur on Flame Wars.
(If you see a flame war, hit the report button. Do not add more fuel to the fire. Flame wars are posts that do nothing but create controversy and mass-arguing with no resolutions.)"
The flame war thing is a bit subjective, but if you read the rules, the moderators are allowed to be somewhat subjective. I was not even involved with the closing of that thread, I just agree with it. And if I am not mistaken, they were informed that "this is not a good thing to do" when the thread was closed.
And I'm not so sure 6 applies seeing as it says "someone" and this was a critique and recommendation against a system, if 6 did apply OP would be complaining about specific mods which wasn't done
@Selvut283 How're you supposed to contact a Mod about it when you think the Mods are the issue? In the thread, Heika never specifically addressed anyone. She just pointed out a problem she saw in the way the staff handles certain issues based on her personal experiences and observations and all they did was prove her point.
I agree that personal grudges between two people should not be brought into the public. But if there's a bigger problem that can potentially affect the whole community and how it's overseen, then I feel it's perfectly fine to bring it to the light.
Also, don't blame her for the flame war. Blame the community at large for not knowing how to have an intelligent conversation based around facts and educated observations instead of blind fanboyism. A resolution could've been reached, but the plug was pulled on that really quick. Controversy and arguing is what leads to change, and by hindering that, you're only stifling yourselves.
If you actually bothered to read this far, then I don't have any personal grudges between any of the staff. Hell, a good number of them are good friends of mine. But if I see something that I think is messed up, I will call it out or support the people who do.
Again, I was not involved with the closing of that thread, I simply agreed with the decision to do so. I feel that nothing positive would have come of it; it had the tone of a "Overthrow the corrupt moderators! They are evil dictators!" thread in my opinion, though I probably would have tried to explain my view on the thread and see how things went before closing it. Was out of my hands though.
I understand that and don't hold you accountable for anything. I'm just explaining my point of view from someone who knows the person who made the thread extremely well and therefore knows their thought process behind it.
What's with wynncraft people and over-exaggerating what I say. If I wanted to start a riot over 'corrupt dictators' I wouldn't have ben half as kind. You guys just need to learn how to look at criticism properly rather than censoring it and ignoring it.
